|Cubs | Dan Haren set to retire|
Mon, 05 Oct 2015 09:35:46 -0700
Chicago Cubs SP Dan Haren confirmed that he plans to retire from baseball after the postseason. "I have no desire to pitch next year," Haren said. "That was it for me. If I have to pitch in the postseason, I will be ready, for sure. I feel actually really good with where I'm at. My stuff's been pretty crisp. But if I don't pitch in the postseason, that's it." Haren reached 30 starts, double-digit wins and at least 175 innings in each of the last 11 seasons.
Fantasy Tip: Haren ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) is highly unlikely to have a spot in the rotation if the Cubs advance past the wild-card game this Wednesday. He could pitch out of the bullpen if he makes the playoff roster, but he won't be usable on FantasyScore.

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 15:03:24 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Haren ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has struggled since joining the Cubs with a 5.00 ERA through nine starts, and he has allowed 10 home runs, which has been a huge problem. He projects to take the hill next on the road against the Cincinnati Reds next week, which likely isn't an ideal spot to utilize him. Check back for an official word on when Haren will pitch next.

Fantasy Tip: Wood ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) isn't a good FantasyScore start against the Philadelphia Phillies due to the weather.

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 17:45:26 -0700
Fantasy Tip: In five starts since being acquired from Miami, Haren ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) is 1-2 with a 6.33 ERA. He is scheduled to make his next start against the Cincinnati Reds Tuesday, Sept. 1, but should be avoided in FantasyScore.

|Cubs | Dan Haren suffers injury scare|
Sun, 16 Aug 2015 14:25:45 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Haren ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) is likely all right, but you may want to double check within the next day. As for the game, Haren gave up three solo home runs and that was the extent of the White Sox's damage.

|Cubs | Dan Haren so-so in team debut|
Wed, 05 Aug 2015 22:06:09 -0700
Chicago Cubs SP Dan Haren allowed four runs - three earned - and seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts Wednesday, Aug. 5, against the Pittsburgh Pirates in a no-decision in his debut for the team.
Fantasy Tip: Haren ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) will have better run support in Chicago than he had in Miami, but it might take him a bit to feel comfortable with his new team. FantasyScore players should hold off until he starts to mesh with the team.

|Cubs | Jon Lester starting Friday|
Tue, 04 Aug 2015 17:03:11 -0700
Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester will make his next start against the San Francisco Giants at home Friday, Aug. 7, after having his start rained out Monday, Aug. 3. SP Dan Haren is going against the Pittsburgh Pirates in his debut with the team Wednesday, Aug. 5, and SP Jason Hammel will go against the Giants Thursday, Aug. 6. SP Kyle Hendricks will be pushed back a day to Saturday, Aug. 8, while SP Jake Arrieta will pitch on normal rest Sunday, Aug. 9. Lester threw only 31 pitches Monday night.
Fantasy Tip: The fact that Lester ($8,500, 17.0% of cap) threw some before the game was canceled Monday shouldn't make you hesitant to use him Friday on FantasyScore. However, the Gigantes have the third-best OPS in the league (.766) on the road this year, meaning you may want to save Lester for another day.

|Cubs | Dan Haren will start next week|
Fri, 31 Jul 2015 15:44:33 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Haren ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) posted a 3.42 ERA over 129 innings with a 6.1 K/9 for Miami this season. So while his lack of strikeouts limit his upside, Haren has kept hitters in check with veteran savvy and stands as a serviceable No. 2 starter for FantasyScore players in favorable matchups. The Pirates don't exactly qualify, though.

|Marlins | Miami adds prospects for Dan Haren|
Fri, 31 Jul 2015 11:04:28 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Soto and Pineyro have both been with Class AA Tennessee this season, and neither project to have a fantasy impact anytime soon. Soto has modest contact skills but just three home runs over 1887 plate appearances in the minor leagues. Pineyro has a 3.69 ERA, a 1.25 WHIP and a 7.7 K/9 over 107 1/3 innings. There is now another opening in the Marlins rotation, too, and keep an eye out for Justin Nicolino receiving a look in the role. He is worth a speculative flier in NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues, especially if you're desperate for pitching.

|Cubs | Dan Haren traded to Cubs|
Fri, 31 Jul 2015 10:43:26 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Haren ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) should slide into Chicago's rotation as the No. 5 starter after this move. The veteran righty isn't striking out many batters (6.1 K/9), but he was serviceable for the Fish with a 3.42 ERA in 21 starts (129 innings), and he can be a dependable matchup play on FantasyScore at a cheap price, especially now that he'll have a better offense backing him.
