Bill Williamson, of the Denver Post, reports the Denver Broncos have offered a contract to re-sign free agent DT Ellis Johnson. However, it is unlikely he will be re-signed due to the other moves the team has made during the offseason to shore up the defensive line and because the team is tight against the salary cap.

Lee Rasizer and Jeff Legwold, of the Rocky Mountain News, report agent David Levine, who represents free agent DT Ellis Johnson (Broncos), said the Cincinnati Bengals are one of the finalists to sign his client. The Denver Broncos are also a finalist to retain Johnson's services. Levine said it is his goal to wrap up the situation Friday, March 11.

Broncos | No Middle Round Draft Picks

Bill Williamson, of the Denver Post, reports the Denver Broncos do not possess a draft choice in the third, fourth and fifth rounds this year. They lost their third round pick because of salary cap violations in the 1990s. Their fourth round selection will likely be sent to the Cleveland Browns for DT Gerard Warren and their fifth round choice was traded to the Atlanta Falcons for DT Ellis Johnson last year.
