Rays | Grady Sizemore optioned

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 21:39:36 -0700

The Tampa Bay Rays optioned OF Grady Sizemore to Class AAA Durham after the game Monday, July 20.

Fantasy Tip: Sizemore might be back at some point, but he is a shell of his former self and only worth using in FantasyScore when he makes a rare start at the big league level.

Rays | Grady Sizemore sitting out

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 07:13:53 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Grady Sizemore is not in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey Saturday, July 18. OF Brandon Guyer will start in right field and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) likely will return to the lineup in the next game or two. Guyer ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is hitting only .143 this month and should not be a top option for owners on FantasyScore.

Rays | Grady Sizemore batting second

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 08:28:02 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Grady Sizemore is playing right field and batting second against Houston Astros SP Lance McCullers Sunday, July 12.

Fantasy Tip: Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is hitless over his past 17 plate appearances, so unless your rolling the dice on him breaking out of the funk Sunday, you'll want to look elsewhere at FantasyScore. There is upside at his cap hit, at least.

Rays | David DeJesus in two-hole

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 13:54:06 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF David DeJesus is starting in left field and hitting second against Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh Friday, July 10. OFs Joey Butler and Grady Sizemore are starting on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Butler loses the most fantasy value with the additions of Sizemore and Jaso to the roster recently. He should only be owned now in the deepest of AL leagues. DeJesus ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is much better against righties (.276 average, all five of his homers), but he hasn't fared very well at home (.216-2-7) this year. He remains a pretty unattractive FantasyScore commodity, even hitting high in the order.

Rays | Grady Sizemore starting in LF

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 08:44:39 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Grady Sizemore is starting in left field and hitting second against Kansas City Royals SP Yordano Ventura Thursday, July 9.

Fantasy Tip: Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) will be rotated in and out of the lineup with the likes of David DeJesus and Joey Butler, with Butler appearing to be the odd-man out. The two-spot in the order is a nice position for daily value, but Sizemore has little upside and should be seen as merely a sleeper pick on FantasyScore as a source of salary cap relief.

Rays | Grady Sizemore sitting vs. Royals

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 15:05:59 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Grady Sizemore is not in the starting lineup against the Kansas City Royals Wednesday, July 8.

Fantasy Tip: Over nine games since being recalled to Tampa, Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has a .273/.273/.424 slash line with three runs, a home run and four RBI. He will likely enter into some kind of platoon in the outfield with David DeJesus ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) and Joey Butler ($3,500, 7.0% of cap). In seasonal formats, all three outfielders should be reserved for cavernous mixed and AL-only formats. FantasyScore players should be extremely picky when they utilize any of them, too.

Rays | Joey Butler out in Game 2

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 16:52:12 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Joey Butler is not in the starting lineup for Game 2 of a doubleheader Tuesday, July 7. OF Grady Sizemore is starting in left field and hitting second against Kansas City Royals SP Edinson Volquez.

Fantasy Tip: With John Jaso back from the DL, it might become even harder for Butler ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) to work his way into the starting lineup. If that's the case, it may be tough to justify rostering him in deep mixed and shallow leagues.

Rays | John Jaso to play a lot

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 16:09:55 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C John Jaso will play a lot in the outfield, but it'll be a juggling effort to get him, OF Grady Sizemore and OF David DeJesus all in the lineup together, according to manager Kevin Cash.

Fantasy Tip: Jaso ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is hitting leadoff in Game 2 of the team's doubleheader tonight, and he could be a very nice value pick at catcher on FantasyScore when facing certain right-handed pitchers. Consider adding him in two-catcher and AL-only leagues if he's available on your league's waiver wire.

Rays | Grady Sizemore at leadoff again

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 13:28:07 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Grady Sizemore is serving as the designated hitter and batting leadoff against Kansas City Royals SP Edinson Volquez Monday, July 6. OF Joey Butler is starting on the bench tonight.

Fantasy Tip: Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has been swinging the bat well with the Rays, going 9-for-25 (.360) with a home run and four RBI. Still, he profiles more as a sleeper play at a cheap cost on FantasyScore. Hitting atop the batting order surely won't hurt his chances for returning great value, either.

Rays | Grady Sizemore leading off

Sat, 04 Jul 2015 08:13:55 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Grady Sizemore will serve as the designated hitter against New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda Saturday, July 4, and is batting first in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has played well since joining the Rays and has at least one hit in four of his last six games with four RBI in that span. Owners on FantasyScore could consider Sizemore as an option if they are looking to save some money.
