The Texas Rangers placed P Yoshinori Tateyama (back) on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, April 4, and purchased the contracts of RP Robbie Ross and INF Alberto Gonzalez. Also, RP Neal Cotts (lat) was assigned to the minors and placed on the DL. P Cody Eppley was designated for assignment.

Texas Rangers RP Neal Cotts and P Robbie Ross remain in camp following the latest cuts Saturday, March 31. Manager Ron Washington said the club has talked about whether having Ross in the bullpen would hurt his development and they don't believe it would, noting others have done the same. The two pitchers are the final left-handed relievers in camp. The club hasn't decided if they will carry a left-handed pitcher, but if they do, one of those two will win the job.

Texas Rangers P Neal Cotts worked Wednesday, March 28, and he threw a scoreless inning in a minor-league game. It was his first time working in back-to-back situations this spring. He has not allowed a run over his past four appearances. He is competing for a spot in the bullpen with Ps Michael Kirkman and Robbie Ross.

Texas Rangers OF Julio Borbon and RP Michael Kirkman are both stating their cases to make the opening day roster this spring. Borbon is 4-for-11 in his first six Cactus League appearances. OF Leonys Martin, who is competing for the center field job with Borbon, is expected to begin with Triple-A Round Rock. Kirkman has given up nine hits while walking just one hitter in five spring innings. He is competing with RPs Mitch Stetter, Joe Beimel and Neal Cotts for a bullpen job.
