Rockies | LaTroy Hawkins, Jorge De La Rosa unlikely to move

Thu, 31 Jul 2014 08:45:05 -0700

Colorado Rockies RP LaTroy Hawkins and SP Jorge De La Rosa appears likely to be moved as of now, though the club isn't ruling out trading them away.

Fantasy Tip: Hawkins' departure would open up a saves vacuum likely to be filled by either Rex Brothers or Adam Ottavino, or both. JDLR would benefit from leaving Coors Field.

Rockies | Asked for Kevin Gausman in Jorge De La Rosa talks

Thu, 24 Jul 2014 09:27:21 -0700

The Colorado Rockies asked for Baltimore Orioles SP Kevin Gausman during trade talks involving Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa. One source said a Baltimore insider called it a "non-starter."

Fantasy Tip: Don't blame them. Gausman has big upside, while JDLR's skills have been pitching on thin ice for many of the last few seasons. Either of these pieces, however, would be a prime FAAB target after the trade deadline if they switch locales.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa strikes out 11

Wed, 23 Jul 2014 22:34:31 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa struck out a season-high 11 batters Wednesday, July 23, against the Washington Nationals, allowing two runs - one earned - with eight hits and no walks in 7 1/3 innings. He was one strikeout short of a career high set in 2009.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa's name has been bandied about in trade rumors leading up to the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, and his next start could potentially come in another uniform. If he moves to a contender, his fantasy value could increase dramatically. Of course, he is 42-14 lifetime at Coors Field, not exactly the most pitcher-friendly environment for most, so fantasy owners might not want him to leave Denver.

Orioles | Interested in Jorge De La Rosa

Wed, 09 Jul 2014 17:45:53 -0700

The Baltimore Orioles have contacted the Colorado Rockies about SP Jorge De La Rosa, according to a source. The Orioles have done background work on De La Rosa.

Fantasy Tip: A move to a contender might give De La Rosa a nice bump to his fantasy value, although pitching in the ultra-tough American League East is always a little tricky, even when some teams are having less than stellar seasons.
