Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa starting Saturday

Sat, 02 May 2015 17:22:47 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa will start against the San Diego Padres Saturday, May 2.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) carries a brutal 11.57 ERA into the matchup, and he allowed nine runs in two innings against the Padres April 20. He can be ignored at FantasyScore.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa bombed Monday

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 21:36:47 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa allowed nine runs (seven earned) and nine hits in his worst outing in seven years against the San Diego Padres Monday, April 20. He lasted just two innings while walking one and striking out three in his 2015 season debut.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($3,700, 7.4% of cap), who typically pitches well at the hitter's haven of Coors Field, did not look sharp at all after being injured in spring training and opening on the DL. You'll likely want to avoid him at FantasyScore in his next start, as well.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa to start Monday

Thu, 16 Apr 2015 08:50:41 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (groin) made his second rehab outing with Triple-A Albuquerque Tuesday, April 14, and he is scheduled to make his 2015 season debut against the San Diego Padres at Coors Field Monday, April 20.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) should be avoided at FantasyScore on Monday against the Friars. Not only will he be pitching at Coors Field, but he'll be facing the revamped San Diego lineup that has clicked to begin the season.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa to make rehab start

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 18:25:14 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (groin) is scheduled to make a minor-league rehab start for Triple-A Albuquerque Thursday, April 9. He will be limited to 65-70 pitches.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa will be sidelined until at least mid-April, and FantasyScore owners will want to shy away from him until he can officially return and prove his health in one full start without any setbacks.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa timetable pushed back

Sun, 05 Apr 2015 06:56:20 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (groin) is unlikely to make his targeted return start Tuesday, April 14, according to manager Walt Weiss. "That would be absolute best-case scenario," Weiss said. "But we don't count on best-case scenarios."

Fantasy Tip: Continue to check back for updates on De La Rosa's ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) status and projected return date. There is little reason to roster him outside NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues, and even then he is a low-end arm. While the wins are nice, they come with awful ratios, as he has averaged a 6.4 K/9, a 3.81 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP over the past two seasons. Add this injury issue and his hitter-friendly home ballpark and there isn't a lot to like about De La Rosa.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa likely headed to DL

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 13:56:26 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (groin) appears bound to begin the regular season on the disabled list because of recurring tightness in his right groin. Although manager Walt Weiss is not going to make an official announcement until he has to, De La Rosa has been limited to playing catch and is not scheduled for any bullpen sessions. Weiss also noted the injury may be a long-term issue. "This is something he's had several times before, so you can categorize it as being chronic," Weiss said. "That being the case, we want to make sure he's good to go so this thing doesn't pop up again."

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa's wins are nice, but they come with awful ratios, as he has averaged a 6.4 K/9, a 3.81 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP over the past two seasons. Add this injury scare and pitching his home games in Coors Field, and there is little reason to roster him outside NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues, and even then he is a low-end arm.

Rockies | Positive reports on Jorge De La Rosa

Mon, 23 Mar 2015 16:12:56 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (groin) said an MRI exam on his left groin showed "nothing bad." However, it's unknown when he will pitch in a spring game again or whether he can make his scheduled start in the team's April 10 home opener. He has dealt with groin tightness throughout the spring. De La Rosa was scheduled to play catch Monday, March 23.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa is mainly an NL-only fantasy commodity. He's pitching in one of the best hitter's parks in the league, and he often struggles with control, making him wildly unpredictable. After a career-high 9.4 K/9 in 2009, De La Rosa has also become less of a strikeout pitcher.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa to miss next start

Sun, 22 Mar 2015 14:34:22 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (groin) will miss his next start due to groin issues, and it is uncertain when he will return to the mound.

Fantasy Tip: Any fantasy value De La Rosa had likely declined for the time being. Despite having 15 victories on average each season, this could be an issue that hampers the Rockies standout for a while. It's best to avoid De La Rosa for this reason.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa dealing with soreness

Fri, 20 Mar 2015 14:50:16 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (groin) reached his pitch limit after 2 1/3 innings and left his start with left groin soreness Friday, March 20, according to the team.

Fantasy Tip: Restrict De La Rosa to NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues, and he only offers low-end value in those formats. While the 33-year-old lefty has averaged 15 wins the past two seasons, his 6.4 K/9, 3.81 ERA and 1.31 WHIP are undesirable returns in the majority of formats. Add the Coors Field factor, and De La Rosa is likely best avoided.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa to open at home

Wed, 18 Mar 2015 22:23:44 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa will start the team's home opener Friday, April 10, against the Chicago Cubs, manager Walt Weiss announced Wednesday, March 18.

Fantasy Tip: JDLR holds a 45-14 lifetime record at Coors Field, so FantasyScore owners will certainly want to remember him at just $4,700 (or 9.4% of cap).
