Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa suffers loss

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 18:48:04 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (7-5) allowed two runs on four hits over six innings in a loss to the New York Mets Wednesday, Aug. 12, with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Despite tossing a quality start Wednesday, De La Rosa ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has not made it beyond the sixth inning in seven of his last eight outings. He will make his next start in the opening game of a three-game series against the Washington Nationals Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Rockies | Jorge de la Rosa rolls against Cardinals

Sun, 02 Aug 2015 06:22:55 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa improved to 7-2 with a 3.41 ERA in nine starts against the St. Louis Cardinals since joining the Rockies in 2008. De La Rosa allowed two runs and seven hits over 6 2/3 innings Saturday, Aug. 1.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) had allowed six earned runs in each of his two previous games, so FantasyScore owners will need to see a few more quality outings before investing.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa to start Tuesday

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 10:32:57 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (finger) will make his scheduled start Tuesday, June 30, against the Oakland Athletics. De La Rosa left his previous start after five innings with a cut on his middle finger.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has a difficult matchup going against A's ace Sonny Gray. The A's have scored well at home and don't strike out a lot, but they do struggle against left-handed pitching. O.co Coliseum is one of the better pitchers parks in baseball, too. He comes at an affordable price with a considerable amount of risk.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa should make next start

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 04:44:56 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (finger) should make his next start, according to manager Walt Weiss. De La Rosa left his previous start Thursday, June 25, with a cut on his left middle finger.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has a 4-3 record and 5.15 ERA this season, and his walks (31) have been a main issue when compared to strikeouts (56). It's still a decent ratio, but pitching in Colorado is always a danger. Analyze the matchups before starting him, and be especially wary of his next turn.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa exits early

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 19:25:51 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (finger) exited against the Arizona Diamondbacks with a cut on the middle finger of his left hand Thursday, June 25. He allowed one run on four hits and struck out three before leaving, and the Rockies said De La Rosa is day-to-day.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has been pitching better recently, but his ERA still stands at 5.15 on the season. He is a roll-of-the-dice play FantasyScore.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa back on track

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 05:20:51 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa allowed just two earned runs, three hits and two walks over seven innings in a win Tuesday, June 9, against the St. Louis Cardinals. He also struck out eight batters.

Fantasy Tip: Thatís more like it. De La Rosa ($4,100; or 8.2% of cap) is normally money at Coors Field, but he had struggled all season after starting the season on the 15-day disabled list. He finally looks healthy and is starting to round into form. FantasyScore players should take advantage of his low salary because it is not likely to last long.

Cardinals | Yadier Molina hitting fifth

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 16:46:34 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals C Yadier Molina will hit fifth in the order Tuesday, June 9, against the Colorado Rockies and LHP Jorge De La Rosa.

Fantasy Tip: Molina ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is hitting just .220 against lefties this season, despite a career average of .279. Molina has just one extra-base hit since May 27, and he has a very low ceiling on FantasyScore.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa gets win No. 71

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 18:31:34 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa picked up his 71st career win Tuesday, June 2, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. De La Rosa is just one win back of Aaron Cook's franchise record.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) finally made a start after being pushed back twice due to a cut on his finger. De La Rosa allowed three runs off four hits and four walks, while striking out six hitters. De La Rosa has allowed more than three earned runs on just two occasions this season, and he's worth a look in most matchups away from Coors Field.

Rockies | JDLR hopeful for Tuesday

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 18:22:06 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (finger) is hopeful the laceration on his middle left finger is healed enough for him to start one of the games of a doubleheader Tuesday, June 2, against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Fantasy Tip: JDLR was on fire at Coors Field last season, and really over his career, but he is 0-1 with a 9.98 ERA in four outings this season in Denver with a .338 opponent batting average. At $4,100 (or 8.2% of cap) he is a risky FantasyScore option.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa scratched

Sat, 30 May 2015 13:43:20 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (finger) was scratched from his start Saturday, May 30, and SP Eddie Butler was moved up to start against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Fantasy Tip: Butler ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has been awful thus far and should be avoided on FantasyScore.
