Valderrama, who turns 26 on Nov. 30, has hit .386 with five home runs, 13 RBIs, four stolen bases and 20 runs scored in 88 at-bats thus far. Valderrama split time last year between Double and Triple-A, along with a seven-game callup to the Giants. Valderrama could earn a spot as a backup OF with the Giants next year.

The team was already short a man in the outfield as backup OF Marvin Benard (knee) is out injured. Valderrama was given the start Saturday in center field in order to give starting CF Marquis Grissom a day off.
