Browns | Cleveland wants to address receivers

Mon, 28 Mar 2016 17:10:27 -0700

Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson said the team needs to address their wide receiver situation. "I've gone on record before saying that I like to have bigger, faster guys play the position," Jackson said.

Fantasy Tip: As it stands now, Cleveland's top two receivers are Andrew Hawkins and Brian Hartline, so expect the Browns to address the position further in the draft. Neither Hawkins nor Hartline should be considered more than WR5 material at this point, with the jury still out on Robert Griffin III.

Browns | Cleveland wants starters in free agency

Sun, 06 Mar 2016 17:45:04 -0800

Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson said that the ideal scenario will be to find two or three starters in free agency. "I'd say that would be one of the goals, but it can't be the only goal, because we also know you can get outbid,'' Jackson said. "That's just part of it and so we'd like to have that happen, but if it doesn't, I don't think we're going to bury our head in the sand. We also know the draft is coming and that's the next place where you build your team.''

Browns | Cleveland will draft quarterback

Wed, 24 Feb 2016 16:43:58 -0800

Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson guaranteed that the Browns will come out of this year's draft with a quarterback. He did not specify who it would be or when they would draft one, however.

Fantasy Tip: The Browns have the No. 2 overall pick this year, and many pundits speculate that pick could be used on Jared Goff or Carson Wentz. Whoever the Browns draft should compete right away for the starting position, although Josh McCown could have a leg up with his experience and veteran leadership. Stay tuned.

Browns | Hue Jackson to call plays

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 07:00:54 -0800

Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson said he will call the plays in 2016. As expected, Jackson didn't hire an offensive coordinator because he has wanted to call the plays all along. No one holds the title of quarterbacks coach, either, though Jackson made it clear associate head coach-offense Pep Hamilton will handle those duties.

Browns | Hue Jackson could call plays

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 18:28:56 -0800

Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson said he is leaning towards not having an offensive coordinator and calling plays himself in 2016. "That's something that's gotten me this job, so it's something that you're an expert at. You want to continue to work at that and keep that in your pocket so you can use it to help your team.''

Wed, 13 Jan 2016 20:34:56 -0800

Cleveland Browns OT Joe Thomas was mentioned specifically by head coach Hue Jackson in his introductory press conference Wednesday, Jan. 13. He intends to persuade Thomas to stay. "Joe Thomas, is one of the best tackles in this league, bar none, and he does deserve an opportunity to win. He is a tremendous football player and has been one of the cornerstones of this organization and this football team, and I can't wait to have the opportunity to talk to him, to give him our plan and hopefully, I believe in my heart, that he's going to get excited about what we're trying to accomplish," Jackson said.

Browns | Hue Jackson not on board with Manziel

Wed, 13 Jan 2016 10:14:30 -0800

Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel is unlikely to stay with the Browns as new head coach Hue Jackson made it clear that he'd want to move on from him before taking the job, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Manziel could land in a spot to compete for a starting position, but he's a watch list player in fantasy.

Browns | Hue Jackson hired by Cleveland

Wed, 13 Jan 2016 10:02:41 -0800

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson was hired by the Cleveland Browns Wednesday, Jan. 13, to serve as their next head coach. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Cleveland gets one of the most sought after head-coaching candidates out there this year in Jackson. He brings with him optimism for the Browns offense, and he should make both Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson more intriguing. However, the Browns offense could continue to cause headaches for fantasy owners until they figure out the quarterback position.
