Thu, 20 Sep 2007 09:02:58 -0700 Mark Gaughan, of the Buffalo News, reports Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild said the offense is working hard and is getting better. "You've got to be precise. You have to time the [quarterback's] drop up with routes and protection. It's just something that we were making strides on, and I thought we were a little farther along than we are right now. We're getting better. As long as we just put our nose down and work hard, it'll work itself out," Fairchild said.

Wed, 05 Jul 2006 12:20:19 -0700 Chris Brown, of BuffaloBills.com, reports Buffalo Bills tight ends coach Charlie Coiner said blocking is the top priority for the Bills' group of tight ends. Coiner used the St. Louis Rams' offense as an example, as Bills offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild previously served as the Rams' offensive coordinator before joining Buffalo. "I expect the tight ends to be tough," said Coiner. "I look at the St. Louis offense, an offense that has been very successful, and I watched what the tight ends did there. The first thing I see is that they are very versatile, meaning they are good in the run game and pass protection."
Wed, 05 Jul 2006 05:24:44 -0700 Greg Pogue, of the Daily News Journal, recently interviewed Buffalo Bills QB Kelly Holcomb. He asked Holcomb to comment offensive style of offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild and Holcomb replied: "He's aggressive. I think he is going to be a little bit more run-oriented than Mike Martz was. But we'll have to see. Time will tell. You have to be able to run the ball in Buffalo when the weather gets bad. I think he is more prone to do that. But I also think he is very aggressive. In practice so far, he sure has been. This offense, you can make some plays. He gets the ball down the field. He's not scared to take shots. He wants you to force balls into some holes that sometimes in other years you might not think. But he knows what he is doing. He has been in this offense for a while. And I really enjoy it. I like it so far."
Tue, 16 May 2006 09:02:39 -0700 Chris Brown, of BuffaloBills.com, reports the Buffalo Bills offensive coaching staff plans on putting the offense through more situational football over the next few organized team activities. "We need to start exposing them to situations," said Bills offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild. "We'll have a lot of third down stuff. Those plays can change a game. We'll do a lot of red zone, our two-minute offense, some of our goal line and short yardage stuff when we put in extra tight ends or backs. We'll be a little more specific about what we're doing and why we're doing it. I'd like to get a lot of that done in the next three weeks."
Tue, 16 May 2006 09:00:25 -0700 Chris Brown, of BuffaloBills.com, reports Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild said the offense is still in the early stages of learning his playbook, but he is seeing positive steps. "We've been making progress," said Fairchild. "We've been able to install our formations and base runs and base passes and get a jump on practicing together a little bit with respect to the timing that's required for us to be effective. We're a long way from where we want to be, but we're on our way."
Fri, 14 Apr 2006 09:02:53 -0700 Chris Brown, of BuffaloBills.com, reports Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild expects the offense to be much more aggressive. Fairchild worked under Mike Martz in St. Louis. While he doesn't expect to duplicate what they accomplished there, he did say the offense would pass more often. The coaching staff has been utilizing deeper drops for the quarterbacks, giving receivers more time to run their routes.
