Fri, 25 Jan 2008 08:40:31 -0800 John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports the Houston Texans are expected to hire Ray Rhodes as their new assistant defensive backs coach as early as Friday, Jan. 25.

Mon, 02 Oct 2006 23:01:07 -0700 The Associated Press reports Seattle Seahawks special defensive assistant Ray Rhodes had a health scare on the team's charter flight early Monday, Oct. 2, which caused the plane to make an emergency landing in Rapid City, S.D. Rhodes reportedly "felt faint" and team physicians on board suggested the plane stop. Rhodes was taken from the airport to a hospital in an ambulance. Head coach Mike Holmgren said dehydration and Rhodes not eating much Sunday, Oct. 1 caused him to feel faint. He spent the night in a hospital and then flew back to Seattle Monday on a commercial jet. Rhodes had two strokelike incidents during the fall in 2005.

He was the team's linebackers coach last season, but took over as interim defensive coordinator when Ray Rhodes missed time after suffering a stroke. Rhodes will remain with the team as a consultant.

Tue, 15 Nov 2005 16:19:12 -0800 The Associated Press reports Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Ray Rhodes (stroke) may return to the press box to watch the Seahawks play on Nov. 27 against the New York Giants. Rhodes has been watching the team's games from home after suffering a stroke on Sep. 11 and a relapse on Nov. 4.
Fri, 04 Nov 2005 13:47:08 -0800 Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Ray Rhodes is being hospitalized again after suffering another episode of the symptoms associated with the mild stroke he suffered two months ago. Rhodes, who was not at practice Friday, Nov. 4, will have linebackers coach John Marshall handle his duties during Week 9. Rhodes apparently suffered some dizziness during this episode, raising concerns and head coach Mike Holmgren would not say if Rhodes suffered another stroke.

It was his first time on the field since suffering a stroke Sept. 4. He is planning on making the trip to Washington when the team plays the Washington Redskins Week 4. It is unknown if he will take back the play-calling duties held by linebackers coach John Marshall.

Head coach Mike Holmgren told Rhodes not to attend the afternoon practice because Rhodes worked a long day Tuesday, Sept. 20. Rhodes watched the practice from his office window and could take part in practice today or Friday, Sept 23. He is expected to be in the coaches' booth Sunday, Sept. 25.
