Raiders | OC explains why Taiwan Jones not being used

Sat, 17 Nov 2012 06:55:16 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Taiwan Jones had just two carries in Week 10 with RBs Darren McFadden (ankle) and Mike Goodson (ankle) out of the lineup and he is expected to see limited touches again in Week 11. Offensive coordinator Greg Knapp said he needs to see Jones improve in pass protection. "We told him going into the game that the two things that we have to see improvement on is ball security as well as assignments," Knapp said. "Assignments not so much in the run game but in the pass protection and in the route running. That's still a part of his game that he's still improving on. We got to keep in mind, he's still a young player. I've got to see (that) in practice first, consistently. And I haven't seen it consistently in practice, and that's what we look for, is perfection in practice."

"I've asked around plenty, and I've gotten my hands on some 2010 film, some older Texans film, where they were kind of doing some of the same stuff with the long playaction stuff and what excites me about it is it sounds like it's a lot of play action, a lot of boots, and throwing the ball down the field, and using, it sounds like we're going to use that speed we have on the outside and try to throw the ball over people's heads."
