Thu, 13 Jan 2011 06:59:19 -0800 The Miami Dolphins will interview former Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress for their offensive coordinator job Saturday, Jan. 15, according to Sid Hartman, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Childress said he isn't certain he will coach next season or sit it out while he collects on a $3 million-per-year contract for the next two seasons from the Vikings after he was fired in November. However, any money he earns from another job would be deducted from the money he is owed by the Vikings.

Fri, 12 Nov 2010 11:17:04 -0800 Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress said WR Percy Harvin (migraines) will be listed as doubtful for Week 10, reports Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Fantasy Tip: Harvin was able to return to practice Friday, so it's a bit of a surprise that he'll be listed as doubtful. Sidney Rice (hip) should be your first look on the waiver wire. He'll likely be questionable and might have limited snaps, though. If he's not there, or if you need someone more stable, look for Bernard Berrian, who should see a bump in looks if both Rice and Harvin sit out. Defenses will also probably focus more attention Adrian Peterson and Visanthe Shiancoe if the injured wideouts sit.
Fri, 12 Nov 2010 08:09:15 -0800 Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre has praised the team's use of the no-huddle offense, particularly the simplicity of it, according to Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The team's use of the no-huddle was instrumental in their Week 9 victory. "Simplicity sometimes to me is one of the most overlooked things in this game," Favre said. Working from the shotgun and calling plays from a limited menu that is part of the two-minute offense, Favre completed 17 of 22 passes for 213 yards in the fourth quarter and overtime as the team rallied from a 14-point deficit with less than five minutes remaining. Head coach Brad Childress did not dismiss the possibility of implementing more of the no-huddle concept and using it earlier in games.

Shiancoe called Childress a people's coach, while Williams said players must remain by Childress' side. "You've got to be on the coach's side, or else it will be like the situation in Dallas," Williams said. "It probably wasn't (Wade Phillips') fault, but it's all on the head coach."
Wed, 10 Nov 2010 21:48:39 -0800 Several of the Minnesota Vikings' players have expressed their dislike for head coach Brad Childress, according to ESPN.com. Sun, 07 Nov 2010 22:24:20 -0800 Following the Minnesota Vikings Week 9 win over the Arizona Cardinals, head coach Brad Childress was asked if he wanted any assurances from owner Zygi Wilf about keeping his job the remainder of the season, reports The Associated Press. "No, I'm not going to stand here like Brett Favre and tell you, compassionate, I need a hug," Childress said. "I'm all right." Childress was joking in his response, although it may not have come across that way during the press conference. Earlier in the week, Favre was asked if he thought Childress was a "compassionate" coach and responded with: "Is he compassionate as in give us a hug or something? Boy, I sure could use one, too. But he hasn't given me one." Both Favre and Childress have acknowledged they don't always see eye-to-eye on the team's game plan, play calling or direction of the offense. Wilf would not address Childress' job security before or after their Week 9 game, but he was happy with the team's victory over Arizona.
Sun, 07 Nov 2010 07:58:56 -0800 Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin (ankle) and head coach Brad Childress reportedly got into a confrontation Friday, Nov. 5, that became so heated other players and coaches were forced to separate the two to prevent a physical exchange, reports ESPN's Ed Werder. Sources noted Childress questioned Harvin's effort during practice. Harvin took exception to it, and Childress suggested Harvin agree to further tests on his injured ankle. Harvin did undergo further tests on his ankle Saturday, Nov. 6, and remains questionable to play during Week 9.
Fri, 05 Nov 2010 13:55:32 -0700 Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf nearly fired head coach Brad Childress over the handling of WR Randy Moss' dismissal, a source told ESPN's Ed Werder. Wilf delayed Moss' placement on waivers so he could weigh firing Childress and retaining Moss. Wilf met with several key members of the team to get a sense of how the team was responding to the incident.

Mon, 01 Nov 2010 11:58:03 -0700 The Minnesota Vikings have waived WR Randy Moss, reports NFL Network's Michael Lombardi. Head coach Brad Childress told the team about the news during a team meeting. Fantasy Tip: Moss should remain on all rosters, but his departure will especially hurt the value of Percy Harvin (ankle) and Brett Favre (chin, heel, elbow, foot). Adrian Peterson could see more defenders in the box. Bernard Berrian could be the early one to benefit with more reps. For more, follow this link.
Fri, 29 Oct 2010 06:19:16 -0700 Although Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre (ankle) appears to have every intention of starting in the team's Week 8 game, despite having a stress fracture in his left ankle and another fracture in the same heel, head coach Brad Childress is leaning toward QB Tarvaris Jackson, according to a league source, report Chip Scoggins and Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Favre has "confided" in some close to him he's not convinced Childress will let him play in the game, according to NFL Network.
Tue, 26 Oct 2010 20:02:51 -0700 Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress was fined $35,000 Tuesday, Oct. 26, for criticizing the officiating of his team's Week 7 game, according to The Associated Press.

Mon, 25 Oct 2010 07:19:46 -0700 Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress was critical of QB Brett Favre following Week 7, according to The Associated Press. The Green Bay Packers turned Favre's two third-quarter interceptions into touchdowns that erased the Vikings' halftime lead. "You can't throw it to them, you've got to play within the confines of our system," Childress said. "Sometimes it's OK to punt the football. You can't give seven points going the other way, not in a game like this."
Mon, 06 Sep 2010 04:35:24 -0700 Minnesota Vikings QB Brad Childress defended his decision to trade QB Sage Rosenfels to the New York Giants and keep QB Tarvaris Jackson as the backup, according to Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Childress became testy when asked how comfortable he would be if QB Joe Webb had to be inserted into a game if something happened to both QB Brett Favre and Jackson. "I'm not going to deal in hypotheticals," Childress said. "I'm done with the backup quarterback. I'm done with it. You guys, if that's all you've got to write, good Lord. We're talking about the two highest-scoring offenses (the Vikings and New Orleans Saints) in the league last year playing each other. Let's talk about the game..."
Thu, 26 Aug 2010 08:45:11 -0700 Updating previous reports, Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin (migraines) has one more test to pass, and head coach Brad Childress is hopeful Harvin will be able to play Saturday, Aug. 28, reports the Minneapolis Star Tribune's Chip Scoggins.
Thu, 26 Aug 2010 08:01:44 -0700 Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin (migraines) was not on the field when Minnesota opened practice Thursday, Aug. 26, reports 1500ESPN.com's Tom Pelissero. Harvin didn't participate much in practice Wednesday, Aug. 25, though it was his first time in pads since collapsing last week. Head coach Brad Childress said Tuesday, Aug. 24, that Harvin was still undergoing more tests related to his migraines and wouldn't practice until those were completed.
Thu, 19 Aug 2010 11:57:28 -0700 Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress seems to be losing credibility with his own team after lying about the situation with QB Brett Favre Tuesday, Aug. 17, according to Yahoo! Sports' Jason Cole. Childress tried to cover up the fact that three of the team's players went to meet with Favre before he flew back to Minnesota. "Chilly can't even tell the truth about that," an unnamed player said. "I mean, how ridiculous is that? What's the big deal that he has to lie? Worse, he has to tell other guys to lie for him?" Apparently, Favre also has no respect for Childress. "Brett thinks Childress has no clue about offense," a Vikings player said. Childress' presence was one of the main reasons why Favre was hesitant about playing again this year.
Thu, 19 Aug 2010 03:28:40 -0700 Many of the Minnesota Vikings players, particularly on offense, have no respect for head coach Brad Childress, according to Jason Cole, of Yahoo! Sports. One of those players is QB Brett Favre. Favre's disdain for Childress is deep, according to multiple team sources. "Brett thinks Childress has no clue about offense," a Vikings player said. Childress' presence, not Favre's ankle injury, was one of the biggest reasons Favre was hesitating about playing again, sources said. In early July, Favre had indicated to one player that he was likely to play. However, after Childress visited Favre July 19, Favre's desire to return declined. "Brett just doesn't trust him," a player said. The heart of the conflict is Childress' perceived lack of football savvy. Some players believe that most of the offensive coaching staff is made up of yes-men. Furthermore, Childress is the type of person who doesn't take outside ideas very well. "He has his way of doing things and that's it," a player said.
Tue, 03 Aug 2010 06:03:53 -0700 Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress will hold a press conference Tuesday, Aug. 3, at 11:30 a.m. CST, NFL Network reports. It is believed he will address the talk of QB Brett Favre (ankle) reportedly informing the team he will retire.
Sat, 12 Jun 2010 03:54:15 -0700 Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress said he is unhappy with RB Adrian Peterson missing the team's mandatory minicamp because of an event in his honor in his hometown, according to the Associated Press. The fourth annual Adrian Peterson Day is scheduled for Saturday, June 12, in Palestine, Texas, where Peterson was raised. There will be a parade and a meet-and-greet session for the locals with Peterson. Childress said he had an idea about the conflict but that Peterson didn't tell him until an appearance at the team's facility this week. "I don't know if it's going to be like every year they're going to have that," Childress said, "but we're going to have this too." When asked whether he would consider this absence excused, Childress replied, "That's something that we'll talk about upstairs."
Wed, 21 Apr 2010 03:49:05 -0700 Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports there continues to be plenty of communication between Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress and QB Brett Favre. Mon, 05 Apr 2010 07:16:27 -0700 Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress said during a radio interview Sunday, April 4, that he continues to wait for QB Brett Favre to make a decision on his future but as of right now it remains unclear what the quarterback will do. "I still don't, one way or the other," Childress said. "I don't know if he's even thought about it or contemplated it. I (talked) with him briefly last week and I'm sure we'll narrow it down as we get a little bit further."
Sat, 03 Apr 2010 07:44:23 -0700 Paul Domowitch, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress said Florida QB Tim Tebow can successfully change his throwing motion at the next level. "Aaron Rodgers was a complete re-do in his throwing motion from Cal, where people didn't like his stroke and how the ball came out. And he's doing fine," Childress said. "Can it be done? It can be done. It's just a matter of if you as a coach and you as a coaching staff feel like you can fix it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It only takes one person to like him, and they're going to do everything in their power to make it right."
Sat, 27 Mar 2010 06:46:26 -0700 John Ingoldsby, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress said the team is not currently interested in free-agent RB Brian Westbrook (Eagles), but could be in the future. "He is a good player, and I have a lot of admiration and respect for him," Childress said. "I do not know if we are far enough down the free-agent trail yet, but he is certainly a guy that is on our board and on our list, as are others. There is no interest as of right this second, but do I respect his abilities, absolutely. I have a lot of admiration for him."

Childress told Favre the organization will put no pressure on him to make a quick decision regarding his future. "He brought it up to me - 'When are you guys going to need to know?'" Childress said. "I said, 'You know what, Brett? That's not why I came down here. I came down here to see how you're doing. It's been five weeks since we played.' We hashed through the season, we hashed through (the year he spent with) the New York Jets. We went backward and forward (on various subjects)."
Fri, 08 Jan 2010 20:35:57 -0800 John Brewer, of the Pioneer Press, reports Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress' son, Aaron Kyle Childress, has been charged with gross misdemeanor DWI after he allegedly backed into a parked car Saturday, Jan. 2. It was his second arrest on alcohol-related traffic offenses in the past 12 months, according to court documents.
