Buccaneers | Team lacking experience at QB position

Sun, 07 May 2006 19:59:13 -0700

Rick Stroud, of the St. Petersburg Times, reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterbacks lack experience in terms of starting games. QB Chris Simms has never started an NFL season as the starting quarterback and has 12 career starts, QB Tim Rattay has 16 starts in seven seasons and QB Luke McCown started four games as a rookie for the Cleveland Browns before being traded to Tampa Bay. Quarterbacks coach Paul Hackett said, "We're very, very, woefully inexperienced at the quarterback position. As excited as we were about what Chris did, Chris shows us so much promise. But the reality of it is he's still a guy who never opened the season as a starter. You'd always like to have a veteran guy, but we're a young offense. We've got young people at every position, and the quarterback position is no different."
