SF49ers.com reports the San Francisco 49ers have hired Johnnie Lynn as secondary coach. Lynn will share the secondary duties with Vance Joseph, who worked as a secondary assistant last season. Lynn joins the 49ers after spending 2004 and 2005 as the Baltimore Ravens secondary coach.

Jamison Hensley, of the Baltimore Sun, reports despite a Baltimore Ravens' secondary that finished fourth overall in pass defense and produced two Pro Bowl performers in 2003, Ravens defensive backs coach Johnnie Lynn said there is room for improvement for 2004. "I think it can be top shelf in this league," Lynn said. "Let's not keep them at that same level but take them higher. The essence of it is that you want to put that ring on. So, we need to be No. 1 in pass defense."

Adam H. Beasley, of BaltimoreRavens.com, reports the Baltimore Ravens have hired former New York Giants defensive coordinator Johnnie Lynn as their new secondary coach. Lynn replaces former secondary coach Donnie Henderson, who was hired as the New York Jets defensive coordinator earlier this week. Lynn spent the past two seasons as defensive coordinator of the Giants. He was the defensive backs coach for the Buccaneers in 1994 and 1995, for the 49ers in 1996.

The NY Post reports the search is on by the New York Giants to replace John Fox as defensive coordinator. Coach Jim Fassel will bring Wade Phillips to Giants Stadium Monday for an interview. Fassel worked in Denver with Phillips. Another reported candidate is former Cardinals coach Vince Tobin. Reportedly, Tobin would not get the job ahead of Phillips. Fassel could also speak with John Pease, the assistant head coach and defensive line coach with the Jaguars. There has been some talk of Pease becoming the defensive coordinator in Jacksonville. Current Giants DBs coach Johnnie Lynn is also definitely a strong candidate.
