Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians was critical of people that picked the St. Louis Rams to beat the Cardinals in Week 15, and in doing so, ripped the Rams. "I love it when nobody says you have a chance to win. There is an 11-3 team and a team that is always 8-8," Arians said. "You figure it out."

The Arizona Cardinals may consider adding a running back to the roster, but the team really likes RB Kerwynn Williams, according to head coach Bruce Arians.
Fri, 17 Oct 2014 21:34:06 -0700
Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) continues to see improvement with the bruised nerve in his right shoulder, and head coach Bruce Arians said Friday, Oct. 17, that the injury continues to improve daily.
Fantasy Tip: Palmer has a decent matchup in Week 7 against the Oakland Raiders, a team which ranks 11th in the NFL against the pass, but which has conceded nine passing touchdowns in just five games. At $7,300 (or 14.6 percent of the cap) in FantasyScore leagues, Palmer is a solid play this weekend.
Tue, 29 Jul 2014 11:26:36 -0700
Arizona Cardinals C Lyle Sendlein (calf) will miss three weeks with a calf injury, according to head coach Bruce Arians. C Ted Larsen will move to center while he is out.
Mon, 28 Jul 2014 01:00:43 -0700
Arizona Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson will be used strictly on defense this season and will not see time in any offensive situations. The Cardinals have excess capacity at wide receiver this year. Coach Bruce Arians plans on relieving Peterson of his punt return duties.
Fantasy Tip: Peterson's fantasy value will take a hit without the special teams presence, because he has returned punts before this season. However, Peterson claims focusing on his CB duties will make him a better defender, and individual defensive player leagues could see an added boost from Peterson.
Fri, 25 Jul 2014 13:57:30 -0700
Arizona Cardinals LB John Abraham (personal) has not reported to training camp due to a personal matter. Abraham will report when it is resolved, according to head coach Bruce Arians.
Thu, 03 Jul 2014 13:14:48 -0700
Arizona Cardinals TE John Carlson has been the tight end who impressed the most during organized team activities and minicamp. Head coach Bruce Arians complimented Carlson's ability to pick up the system quickly, his speed and hands, and he considers Carlson an adequate blocker. Arians wants physical tight ends who are capable blockers. Carlson will compete for targets with TEs Rob Housler, Jake Ballard and Troy Niklas (hand).
Fantasy Tip: The Cardinals tight end corps has too many options to be able to rely on any of them as a weekly fantasy option, at least at this point.
Tue, 01 Jul 2014 12:28:48 -0700
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians praised LB John Abraham, and does not see him slowing down in 2014. "He did it last year and there's no reason to think he's going to slow down," Arians said. "He's one of those freaks of nature. He just keeps getting it done. We are looking forward to another big year out of him."
Tue, 01 Jul 2014 12:14:07 -0700
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians thinks the Atlanta Falcons will bounce back this year, and he is not looking forward to playing them in 2014. "I'm not looking forward it," Arians said. "I thought (general manager Thomas Dimitroff) and (head coach Mike Smith) did a great job of really securing their lines of scrimmage, which I know was their goal. I know that Matt (Ryan) is going to come back strong. I could see the Falcons bouncing back real big this year."
Sun, 11 May 2014 06:33:01 -0700

Sun, 02 Mar 2014 07:07:36 -0800
Arizona Cardinals LB Karlos Dansby is a major priority for the team to keep this offseason, according to head coach Bruce Arians. "We're still in the negotiation process," Arians said. "But, yeah, he's a major priority because of what he brought to the table for us as a leader. We definitely would love to have him back."

Fri, 21 Feb 2014 12:38:17 -0800
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians is skeptical of Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel because of his height. "There are a bunch of 6-foot-5 successful guys who are athletic," Arians said. "The 5-foot-11 guys, it has to throw a question mark out there." The Cardinals are not expected to take a quarterback early in this year's draft.

Tue, 01 Oct 2013 10:01:35 -0700
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians called his offense "putrid" in their Week 4 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Arians is shocked at how long it has taken his team to pick up the offensive playbook. "I haven't seen it take this long ever," he said. Arizona has converted just two of 21 third downs in their two victories this year. The issues have been linked to dropped passes, bad throws, poor protection and poorly run routes.
Tue, 01 Oct 2013 09:49:09 -0700
Arizona Cardinals DT Darnell Dockett (groin), LB Jasper Brinkley (groin), OG Daryn Colledge (leg) and LB Vic So'oto (concussion) suffered injuries in Week 4, but head coach Bruce Arians said none of them were major injuries. Mon, 15 Jul 2013 17:02:30 -0700
Arizona Cardinals FS Tyrann Mathieu could be on the field at the same time as CB Patrick Peterson returning punts, or giving Peterson a break if the defense has been on the field for an extended period. That said, coach Bruce Arians said Peterson will be on the field every the other team is punting. "(Patrick) can't get his hands on the ball enough for me," Arians said. "As long as the other team is punting, he's going to be back there. And hopefully they will be punting a lot."
Tue, 09 Jul 2013 15:48:38 -0700
Arizona Cardinals TE Rob Housler could have a big role in the offense this year and ranks as a breakout candidate. Head coach Bruce Arians said he saw Housler as a big receiver, potentially as opposed to a tight end, when he came out of college.
Fantasy Tip: Arians' mixed record on using tight ends causes us to temper our expectations here, but the fact that Housler resembles more of a wideout than a true tight end should work in his favor, ala Dwayne Allen last year in Indy. Housler could offer some allure as a TE2 in leagues where carrying a pair is logical.
Wed, 19 Jun 2013 09:53:17 -0700
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said on NFL AM that "there's no doubt" RB Rashard Mendenhall would be the featured back if the season started Wednesday, June 19. Arians is shying away from the notion that this is a time share. Mendenhall is also ready to go after fighting Achilles' tendonitis last year following early-2012 knee surgery.
Fantasy Tip: Hard to believe Mendy turns 26 today. Arians' history with Mendenhall will help with the transition, and as long as he's healthy, he'll take the lion's share of carries away from Ryan Williams, Andre Ellington and Stepfan Taylor. Mendenhall is a second fantasy back that might be the victim of overvaluation.

Thu, 13 Jun 2013 16:52:47 -0700
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians told reporters that when he was with the Indianapolis Colts as offensive coordinator and eventually interim head coach last season, WR Reggie Wayne started to embrace the idea of lining up at different spots along the line of scrimmage. Arians said WR Larry Fitzgerald has welcomed the idea, as well, as he's being tried in the "X," "Z" and "F" positions.
Fantasy Tip: Of course, Wayne had Andrew Luck throwing to him. Can Carson Palmer offer similar hope? Fitzgerald is a borderline WR1 (safer as a 2) but, if he falls, could reward those willing to pounce on a reduced price.

Tue, 21 May 2013 16:53:40 -0700
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians was disappointed with his team during organized team activities Tuesday, May 21, and he singled out several players for making mental mistakes two weeks in a row. The Cardinals were ranked dead last in the league in total offense last year.
Fantasy Tip: Arians has plenty of work to do to turn this offense around in 2013, but it all starts with a productive offensive line. They were a terrible unit last year because they couldn't protect the quarterback. Inconsistent QB play didn't help, either. Now that Carson Palmer is in the fold, they should improve, giving Larry Fitzgerald and the rest of the receiving corps reason for optimism.
Wed, 15 May 2013 10:30:03 -0700
The Indianapolis Colts are expected to use their running backs more out of the backfield as receivers under new offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton than they did in 2012 with Bruce Arians calling plays. RB Vick Ballard led all Colts rushers with just 17 catches a year ago.
Fantasy Tip: Ballard could gain value in PPR leagues. He isn't a natural receiver but has shown to be acceptable in this area, whereas RB Donald Brown is a suspect pass catcher with limited experience running routes. Brown could be used on screen passes to take advantage of his open-field speed.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said his first look at the team's roster prompted more positive surprises than negative ones, most notably on the offensive line. "We get some guys healthy, it's not as dire as some might make it out to be," Arians said. "And some young guys have a chance to play who might be all right." Arians pointed to OTs Nate Potter and Bobby Massie. Massie started every game while Potter started the last six. "They got some experience against quality opponents," Arians said. "They're just going to get better."

Sat, 26 Jan 2013 06:57:12 -0800
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said he is keeping an open mind when it comes to the quarterbacks on the team's roster. Arians will give QBs Kevin Kolb, John Skelton and Ryan Lindley an opportunity to earn the starting job; however, he is not opposed to an outside candidate earning the nod as well. "I'm sure that (general manager) Steve (Keim) and (vice president of player personnel) Jason (Licht) are going to be looking behind door number two," Arians said. "If door number two is a better option, we'll go to door number two." Arians said he's looking forward to meeting with all three quarterbacks but isn't in a rush to evaluate their chances at this point.

Wed, 23 Jan 2013 11:41:21 -0800
It's believed that Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians will devote many resources to improving the team's offensive line weaknesses, including the number of coaches that will work with the unit. Previous offensive line coach Russ Grimm under former head coach Ken Whisenhunt didn't have an assistant to work with, and 10 or 12 offensive lineman would often be seen standing around during training camp. Grimm worked better with veteran linemen and worked mainly on pass protection, which didn't help the younger linemen much with developing key techniques. Arians said there will be as many as three or four coaches working with the offensive linemen this year.

They're going to be accountable, not to me, to each other," Arians said. "It's not my football team. Our players will decide how good they are. It's their football team. If they want to win, we'll win. I'll show them the way. I'm no magic man. I've never tried to be."
