The Giants are averaging 311.6 total yards per game and just 17.9 points per game. "It certainly hasn't been a connect-all-the-dots-from-day-one type of year," Coughlin said. "But Kevin's a pro, he's been around, he's done things a long time. We try to find ways to take advantage of things."

"You see a guy like David Wilson, who started with no clue on who to block, much less how to block, to a pretty good understanding of what it is that he has to do," Gilbride said. "Now it is a matter of doing it. And it is a matter of getting better at it. He is still not 100 percent."

Giants | Needed to get younger on the offensive line

Thu, 11 Jul 2013 12:10:09 -0700

New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said the team needed to add some young talent to the offensive line, something they accomplished when they drafted OL Justin Pugh. "We added some young blood that can come in and look like they have the skill set to be able to play and contribute down the road," Gilbride said. "There is no question, we needed an infusion of talent at that spot - young talent that would be able to come in and eventually assume starting roles. How soon that will be remains to be seen."

Sat, 01 Dec 2012 07:19:50 -0800

New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said there is no reason why RB David Wilson should not be ready to see more action in Week 13. "He's certainly been around long enough to learn from the guys ahead of him that have done a great job with handling that stuff."

Sat, 13 Oct 2012 04:40:44 -0700

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh was not happy with comments made by New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride, who feels that DE Justin Smith "gets away with murder." Harbaugh said in a statement released by the team Friday, Oct. 12, "Kevin Gilbride's outrageous, irrational statement regarding Justin Smith's play is, first, an absurd analogy. Second, it is an incendiary comment targeting one of the truly exemplary players in this league. It's obvious that the Giants coaching staff's sole purpose is to use their high visibility to both criticize and influence officiating."

Giants | Offensive coordinator happy to get Hakeem Nicks back

Thu, 11 Oct 2012 11:50:44 -0700

New York Giants offensive coordinator coordinator Kevin Gilbride is happy that WR Hakeem Nicks (foot, knee) is close to returning. "There's a ...reason he's a starter," Gilbride said. "You see the contribution he's capable of making when you see Tampa Bay. That's the difference. The other guy shave filled in admirably. We're very, very proud to see what Ramses did for a couple of games, what Rueben did this past game, Domenik's been unbelievable all season long. So I'm proud of them all, but you always want your best players and your starters to come back. The more you have there the more difficult it is for people to match up. The advantages they have in certain spots, maybe they start swinging in your favor. So to get him back would be great. The problem is, just getting him back is one thing. What level he'll be able to play at is another."

Sun, 01 Oct 2006 06:16:48 -0700

Vinny DiTrani, of the Bergen Record, reports the New York Giants have been quite effective running the hurry-up offense in recent weeks, but they are not about to change their philosophical approach on offense three weeks into the season. "It's been good for us and as a result of that, you enjoy it and the results it has produced," said quarterbacks coach Kevin Gilbride. "But as a team we have tried to build ourselves a little bit differently, with hard-core runs and play-action passes off that, and having the no-huddle as another weapon, another approach. But I don't think any of us have conceived this would be the main approach, the only approach that we would take. We hope we can continue to be as good in it as we've been, but we hope to get the other part going, too."
