Gilbride said the team was spoiled with former RB Tiki Barber because of his durability. Gilbride said it would be nice to have each back fresh and strong throughout the season. He said the team will use the back who has the hot hand and that each player has their strength and areas he likes to take advantage of.

"It's been good for us and as a result of that, you enjoy it and the results it has produced," said quarterbacks coach Kevin Gilbride. "But as a team we have tried to build ourselves a little bit differently, with hard-core runs and play-action passes off that, and having the no-huddle as another weapon, another approach. But I don't think any of us have conceived this would be the main approach, the only approach that we would take. We hope we can continue to be as good in it as we've been, but we hope to get the other part going, too."
Sun, 13 Aug 2006 09:15:21 -0700 Mike Garafolo, of the Newark Star-Ledger, reports New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin has moved offensive coordinator John Hufnagel upstairs to the booth. Quarterbacks coach Kevin Gilbride will move down to the sideline and will now relay the calls from Hufnagel to QB Eli Manning. Coughlin said, "I always felt that the play caller in the booth had an opportunity to see the entire field. I felt like John would do a good job from up above. And I also felt it would give Kevin a better opportunity to communicate eyeball-to-eyeball with Eli, a guy that he spends untold number of hours with in the classroom and on the field."

Both assistant coaches have been with the team since it's inception. Meanwhile, Coughlin could serve as the offensive coordinator once again this year. He called his own plays under that role in 1999 and 2000 and may do so again. Other potential candidates include Kevin Gilbride, former Carolina QBs coach Turk Schonert and ex-Redskins offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye.

Head Coach Mike Tice has added Louisville offensive coordinator Scott Linehan to his list of candidates. Former San Diego Chargers coach Kevin Gilbride will interview Friday for the job and Tice is planning to meet Seahawks QBs coach Jim Zorn next week at the Senior Bowl. Tice has not been granted permission to speak with two of his top candidates for the spot, the Colts Tom Moore and Marc Trestman of the Raiders. Trestman cannot be spoken to until the Raiders are out of the playoffs. Tice said his search for a new special teams is "wide open." Also, Tice is looking to hire an offensive quality control coach.

As previously reported, Tice apparently also is interested in Oakland senior assistant Marc Trestman. On Monday, Iowa State offensive coordinator Steve Loney will interview for the offensive line coach job.
Sat, 03 Feb 2001 10:52:29 -0800 The Buffalo News reports, as previous reports had indicated, Bills coach Gregg Williams plans to hire Titans assistant Jerry Gray as his defensive coordinator. Offensive coordinator is an open issue, but as we've reported before Kevin Gilbride is expected to head the list. On defense, Williams plans to play some 3-4 formations, the Bills' old base formation, plus the 4-3 and plenty of Buddy Ryan's old "46" defense. Specualtion is the way Williams answered some questions about his offense during his press conference yesterday, Rob Johnson will be his man at QB.
