Bears | Jay Cutler cleans up fundamentals

Sun, 29 Jun 2014 07:33:32 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler has made tremendous strides cleaning up his fundamentals this offseason, according to quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh. "I've seen incredible progress," Cavanaugh said. "When we got in here last year & evaluated him we had a real good conversation with him about certain things that every quarterback should do. We said, 'Jay it might not be natural, but we want you to try it.' And he did" "To his credit, he's taken every suggestion we've given and he's embraced it. From how he holds the ball to how he lines up in the`Gun' pre-snap to how he drops back, to his throwing base to his follow-through. Every little fundamental we've talked to him about, he's embraced, and it's like night & day."

Mon, 03 Jan 2005 19:04:41 -0800

Adam H. Beasley, of, reports Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Matt Cavanaugh has agreed to resign from the team. In what was called a "mutual" decision, Cavanaugh agreed to leave the team, effectively immediately, after meeting with head coach Brian Billick Monday, Jan. 3. "Matt and I sat down and had a very frank conversation about where we needed to go, what we needed to do, as we move forward, what changes we need to make, in order to be more productive, particularly on the offensive side of the ball, to live up to the potential of what this team can be, and be substantially better," Billick said. "Matt and I both agreed that part of that change would be at the offensive coordinator position." Cavanaugh is the only offensive coordinator Billick has had since joining the Ravens in 2000.
