New York Jets offensive coordinator Tony Sparano said he wants to incorporate a very physical style of offense next season, often called a "Ground & Pound" offense by head coach Rex Ryan. Sparano will have full control over the offense, meaning he will call all the plays. He is expected to go with a run-first offense, but Sparano also said he wants to have a vertical passing attack. Sparano needs to improve QB Mark Sanchez, and he is interviewing possible replacements for quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh.

Adam H. Beasley, of BaltimoreRavens.com, reports Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Matt Cavanaugh has agreed to resign from the team. In what was called a "mutual" decision, Cavanaugh agreed to leave the team, effectively immediately, after meeting with head coach Brian Billick Monday, Jan. 3. "Matt and I sat down and had a very frank conversation about where we needed to go, what we needed to do, as we move forward, what changes we need to make, in order to be more productive, particularly on the offensive side of the ball, to live up to the potential of what this team can be, and be substantially better," Billick said. "Matt and I both agreed that part of that change would be at the offensive coordinator position." Cavanaugh is the only offensive coordinator Billick has had since joining the Ravens in 2000.
