Diamondbacks.MLB.com's Steve Gilbert reports Arizona Diamondbacks OF Felix Jose (Achilles') had an MRI that revealed a 25-percent tear of his left Achilles' tendon. Jose will have to wear a walking boot for the next six weeks. When he returns to action, it will be for the Mexico City Red Devils in the Mexican League, where he has spent most of the last two seasons.

MLB.com's Steve Gilbert reports the Arizona Diamondbacks signed OF Felix Jose to a minor league contract on Friday, Dec. 5, and invited him to attend Spring Training. He'll get a chance to make the team and could compete for the starting right-field position. Terms were not disclosed.

Updating a previous item, the AP reports the Arizona Diamondbacks, who had been considering adding Mexico City OF Felix Jose as a replacement for injured OF Danny Bautista (hamstring), decided instead to add a pitcher to the roster.
