Wed, 05 Dec 2012 23:51:42 -0800

The Kansas City Royals will limit C Salvador Perez's appearances next season, but he is still expected to catch 140 games. However, manager Ned Yost admits that number could go higher if Perez wields a hot bat. "I hope it's not 159 or 160," Yost said. "I hope I can give him a break here and there. I love that kid. I have a hard time not playing him. I love to write his name in the lineup because he's that special."

Royals | Luke Hochevar may be ready for 2013

Mon, 03 Dec 2012 23:55:28 -0800

Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost believes SP Luke Hochevar is due to have a breakout season in 2013, despite his struggles in the past. "I like his pitches. I like the quality of his pitches. I like his stuff. I like the way he competes on the mound. I like his makeup. He's not scared. He goes right after hitters. He does his homework. The intangibles are there to have success. He just hasn't had it," Yost said.

I feel good putting both of those guys at any infield position."

Royals | Jarrod Dyson up temporarily

Wed, 22 Jun 2011 01:31:36 -0700

Updating a previous item, Kansas City Royals OF Jarrod Dyson may only be up at the parent club for a few days. The club wanted to recall SP Bruce Chen when it sent RP Vin Mazzaro to Triple-A Omaha, but Chen isn't due to pitch until Friday, June 24. "We knew we were going to make the move with Mazzaro, but it didn't make any sense to have Mazzaro sitting here for five days when we could get a guy like Dyson who we could bring up for three days to help us win," Royals manager Ned Yost said.
