Both underwent Tommy John surgery last season. "They're doing fine. I think both of them threw [Saturday]," manager Ned Yost said. "Duffy threw 20 pitches in a game and Paulino threw like 25 pitches in BP with good results. They're fine." Both are aiming for minor league pitching assignments in the next month or two.

Escobar picked up his first career ejection in the top of the ninth inning, along with manager Ned Yost, after they argued a call at second base. SS Yuniesky Betancourt came on for Escobar in the ninth inning, and he ended up with a solo home run.
