Giants | Casey McGehee out again

Wed, 06 May 2015 10:53:17 -0700

San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee remains on the bench for the second straight day Wednesday, May 6. 2B Matt Duffy is starting at third base again and hitting eighth in the batting order against San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy.

Fantasy Tip: McGehee is hitting only .181 (13-for-72) on the season and could ride pine more frequently if he doesn't turn things around quickly. Duffy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has very little offensive upside, especially hitting at the bottom of the lineup. Avoid him at FantasyScore.

Giants | Casey McGehee might sit Wednesday

Tue, 05 May 2015 20:15:28 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee was given off Tuesday, May 5, against the San Diego Padres to rest, and he might get Wednesday, May 6, off, too. Manager Bruce Bochy said McGehee needs to back off to relieve pressure on himself.

Fantasy Tip: McGehee has been struggling, so Bochy plugged Matt Duffy ($1,600; 3.2% of cap) in at third base Tuesday. Duffy could also get a look Wednesday, making him a sound low-end FantasyScore option who can help you save plenty of salary to spread across other positions.

Giants | Casey McGehee getting rest

Tue, 05 May 2015 17:55:46 -0700

San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee was held out of the lineup Tuesday, May 5, against the San Diego Padres. He has been struggling, so manager Bruce Bochy gave him a day to "let him catch his breath."

Fantasy Tip: Avoid McGehee ($2,100; 4.2% of cap) in FantasyScore until he starts to hit with more consistency. Matt Duffy ($1,600; 3.2% of cap) made the start at third base and is a decent low-end option while starting.

Giants | Casey McGehee being rested

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 16:01:32 -0700

San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 22. 2B Joaquin Arias is starting at the hot corner and hitting seventh in the batting order against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw.

Fantasy Tip: McGehee ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is off to a terrible start with his new club (.171, 6-for-35), and injuries haven't helped his cause. Arias ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is more known for his defense, and he, too, is off to a slow start (.143, 2-for-14). Avoid Arias against Kershaw tonight at FantasyScore.

Giants | Casey McGehee returns to lineup

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 15:26:20 -0700

San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee (knee) is batting fifth and playing third base against the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday, April 17.

Fantasy Tip: McGehee ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is an underrated commodity in the daily racket, because his lack of power doesn't translate well to year-long leagues. While Friday isn't likely the best night to utilize him in FantasyScore contests, at his price point, he should be on your radar going forward.

Giants | Casey McGehee out Thursday

Thu, 16 Apr 2015 15:45:25 -0700

San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee (knee) remains out of the starting lineup against the Arizona Diamondbacks Thursday, April 16. 2B Matt Duffy will start at third base again and hit second in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Duffy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) isn't the greatest of second base options for those playing on FantasyScore, but his placement near the top of the San Fran lineup gives him at least a little upside. Duffy hit his first homer of the season Wednesday night. Against Diamondbacks starter Archie Bradley, though, Duffy figures to be a weak play.

Giants | Casey McGehee remains out

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 15:46:04 -0700

San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee (knee) remains out of the lineup Wednesday, April 15. 2B Matt Duffy will start at third base again and hit second in the lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Matzek.

Fantasy Tip: Duffy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is a low-priced flier while hitting high in the order against Matzek, who has been generous to right-handed hitters in his career.

Giants | Casey McGehee still out

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 16:45:50 -0700

San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee (knee) remains out of the starting lineup Tuesday, April 14. 2B Matt Duffy is starting at third base and hitting sixth in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: McGehee's injury isn't believed to be serious, so he could return any day now. Duffy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) isn't a recommended FantasyScore play Tuesday night, even against Colorado Rockies starter Christian Bergman.

Giants | Casey McGehee out Monday

Mon, 13 Apr 2015 10:33:33 -0700

San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee (knee) is not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Eddie Butler Monday, April 13, after suffering a bone bruise in his knee Saturday, April 11. 2B Matt Duffy is starting at the hot corner and hitting seventh in the lineup Monday.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear when McGehee ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) will be able to return, so keep an eye on his progress. He was off to a 5-for-21 (.238) start to the year with a homer, and he's more of a low-end third base option at FantasyScore. Duffy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is an even less-attractive daily play.

Giants | Casey McGehee has bone bruise

Sun, 12 Apr 2015 11:46:05 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee (knee) has been diagnosed with a bone bruise in his left knee. He said he suffered the initial injury Monday, April 6. McGehee received a cortisone shot and will receive additional treatment over the next few days.

Fantasy Tip: McGehee is expected to miss a few games but his injury is not serious enough to require a stint on the disabled list. INFs Matt Duffy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) and Joaquin Arias ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) are the best bets to see time at the hot corner while McGehee is out but neither is a viable FantasyScore option.
