The Oakland Athletics activated 1B Daric Barton (shoulder) from the 15-day disabled list Monday, April 9, and designated 1B Brandon Allen for assignment in a corresponding move. Allen was 0-for-7 with five strikeouts in the team's first three games.

Oakland Athletics 1B Daric Barton (shoulder) will not accompany the team on their trip to Tokyo Thursday, March 22. Instead, he will remain at extended spring training because of his limited availability during camp. The team is unlikely to place Barton on the disabled list because they feel he will be ready April 6, the date of their first regular-season game after the Japan Opening Series.
