Tue, 16 Jan 2007 06:42:31 -0800 Anthony Castrovince, of Indians.MLB.com, reports former Cleveland Indians OF Ryan Goleski, who was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays then shipped to the Oakland Athletics for cash in the Rule 5 draft held in December, could find himself back with the team. Goleski had bone chips removed from his right wrist immediately following the minor league season which could cost him some time in spring training, severely hampering his chances of making the Athletics roster. Sun, 07 Jan 2007 20:18:08 -0800 The Oakland Tribune's Josh Suchon reports Oakland Athletics OF Ryan Goleski (wrist) had a cast removed from his surgically repaired right wrist in late December and was cleared to begin his rehab. Goleski was acquired in early December in the Rule 5 draft from the Cleveland Indians, following a $100,000 trade with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Oakland didn't know about the injury at the time of the acquisition and was only informed of it after the draft by Cleveland. The A's don't believe there was any malicious intent by the Indians and are content to play the situation by ear and resolve the issue towards the end of spring training. If Goleski ends up on the major league disabled list, that would count as being in the majors and could ironically help the A's hang onto him. By rule, he must remain on the 25-man roster all year or else be returned to the Indians for half of the $50,000 drafting cost.
