Texas Rangers 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff doubled twice and scored two runs in the team victory Thursday, April 17, and he's hitting .414 since being recalled from the minors April 9. He has hit in all eight games in which he has played this year.
Fantasy Tip: Kouzmanoff has resurfaced out of nowhere. He's not dead just yet, fantasy baseball players. In the short term with Adrian Beltre (quadriceps) on the DL, you might as well ride the hot streak in cavernous mixed and AL-only setups.

The Texas Rangers have placed 3B Adrian Beltre (quadriceps) on the disabled list because of a left quadriceps injury. The move is retroactive to Wednesday, April 9. In a corresponding move, RP Hector Noesi has been added to the 25-man roster.
Fantasy Tip: The Rangers are hoping that Beltre will be able to return to action by April 25. In the meantime, 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff will get the bulk of the action at the hot corner. He warrants a look in AL-only and deep mixed fantasy leagues.

Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said the team is leaning toward placing 3B Adrian Beltre (quadriceps) on the 15-day disabled list. Daniels said the team would like him back in the lineup but do not want the injury to become more serious.
Fantasy Tip: Beltre owners should have a backup plan ready because it appears Beltre will be on the sidelines for a few weeks. Joshua Wilson and Kevin Kouzmanoff could play at third base while Beltre is out, but neither is likely more than an AL-only option.

The Texas Rangers will send 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff to Triple-A Round Rock, as the club elected to keep left-handed hitting OF Jim Adduci over the veteran. "I have no reason why Kouzmanoff didn't make this team, he did everything he could," manager Ron Washington said Saturday, March 29. "But when you look at the roster, we had to try to give ourselves some flexibility." Kouzmanoff hit .385 in 52 Cactus League spring at-bats with 12 RBI, but the roster is crowded with INFs Donnie Murphy and Joshua Wilson already on the roster. Kouzmanoff has no opt outs in his contract, and will begin in the minors.

Texas Rangers OF Michael Choice is expected to make the 25-man roster as the fourth outfielder, while INF Kevin Kouzmanoff, OF Engel Beltre and OF Jim Adduci are competing for the last spot on the bench. Beltre may have an edge because he is out of options and would have to clear waivers to remain in the organization if he doesn't make the team.

Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington is looking or a right-handed hitter who can serve as the designated hitter against left-handed pitching. OF Michael Choice is believed to be a possibility, but Washington is reluctant to use a young player in that position. 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff, a non-roster invitee, also could get a look.
