The Houston Chronicle reports Houston Texans TE Rod Rutledge has experienced inflammation in his left ankle since Monday and is not expected to return until early next week. Coach Dom Capers does not consider the injury serious. "I'm definitely feeling better. I'm hoping to be back real soon," Rutledge said. "It's been a big disappointment."

"Rod gives us a big, physical player that we think can be a good run-blocking tight end," coach Dom Capers said. "We’re going to need a guy that can fill that role for us."

The Houston Chronicle reports Houston Texans TE Billy Miller is seeking a second chance with his NFL career. He spent his first two seasons in the NFL with Denver. He has impressed the Texans coaching staff this offseason with his passing-catching ability, improved blocking skills and dedication in the weight room. Right now he and Rod Rutledge top the team's depth chart at TE. "I think coming to Houston everybody has a great opportunity at every position," said Miller. "He's improved. He's worked very hard in the weight room. He's gotten a lot stronger," coach Dom Capers said.
