Kansas City Royals SP Brian Bannister (shoulder) said he is physically having trouble throwing his offspeed pitch, according to MLB.com's Dick Kaegel. "I got away with throwing all fastballs down in Triple-A and it just doesn't happen at this level. I threw some decent ones but my control was still spotty and you're just not going to beat a good team at this level throwing fastballs, especially below-average ones," Bannister said. He also said his right shoulder is still bothering him.

Kansas City Royals SP Brian Bannister has been working to fine-tune his mechanics after pitching coach Bob McClure said Bannister needed to be more consistent with his arm slot, according to The Kansas City Star's Daniel Paulling. "He's been throwing some good side sessions," manager Ned Yost said. "We're trying to make sure we get Banny in a spot mechanically where he can finish the month of September really strong. He's working on mechanical issues so that he can not get out in front and finish those pitches with the strong downhill motion instead of getting underneath."
