Dodgers | Yasmani Grandal still sitting

Mon, 25 May 2015 14:34:46 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal (face) is still out of the lineup Monday, May 25, against the Atlanta Braves. C A.J. Ellis will start in his place.

Fantasy Tip: Grandal should be returning in the near future. He may have been given the day off since the Dodgers have a day game. Ellis ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has played sparingly this year and still has zero homeruns and only one RBI. He isn't worth starting on FantasyScore even at his dirt cheap price.

Dodgers | Yasmani Grandal injured

Sat, 23 May 2015 00:24:26 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal (face) left the game Friday, May 22, against the San Diego Padres when he was struck in his catcher's mask by a bat and a foul ball. C A.J. Ellis replaced him. Grandal will not play Saturday, May 23, but that was already a scheduled day off for him.

Fantasy Tip: Grandal ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) will likely be all right, but take him out of your lineup for a couple days to be on the safe side. Ellis ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) won't offer much fantasy value to you.

Dodgers | Yasmani Grandal out vs. tough lefty

Thu, 21 May 2015 09:54:27 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal is not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 21. C A.J. Ellis is behind the dish and hitting eighth in the batting order against San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner.

Fantasy Tip: Ellis ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has struggled to produce at the plate in limited playing time in 2015, hitting .125 (4-for-32) with one RBI. Avoid him at FantasyScore this afternoon.

Dodgers | A.J. Ellis starting behind the dish

Wed, 06 May 2015 14:42:58 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C A.J. Ellis is batting eighth and starting behind the plate against the Milwaukee Brewers Wednesday, May 6.

Fantasy Tip: Ellis ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is a desperation source of cap relief for FantasyScore players Wednesday. He has received just 25 plate appearances with Yasmani Grandal ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) making the majority of starts behind the plate. Make sure to avoid Grandal in daily contests Wednesday.

Dodgers | A.J. Ellis available

Thu, 23 Apr 2015 10:59:24 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C A.J. Ellis (hand) is available off the bench and was able to throw Thursday, April 23, after X-rays on his hand came back negative.

Fantasy Tip: Ellis ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has lost considerable playing time to Yasmani Grandal to open the 2015 season, and he's not of much use to FantasyScore gamers. Ellis really is only worth owning in deep NL-only leagues at this point.

Dodgers | A.J. Ellis could platoon behind the plate

Thu, 19 Feb 2015 13:55:40 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers C A.J. Ellis could platoon behind the plate with C Yasmani Grandal based on the opposing starting pitcher, according to general manager Andrew Friedman.

Fantasy Tip: Ellis is the elder statesman, and he lacks the offensive punch Grandal boasts. Additionally, it is likely Grandal earns the majority of starts at some point during the season. At best, Ellis is a low-end option in two-catcher formats.

Dodgers | Held on to A.J. Ellis

Fri, 12 Dec 2014 06:40:13 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers C A.J. Ellis was a player the San Diego Padres were seeking in the trade involving OF Matt Kemp. The Dodgers wouldn't let him go because SP Clayton Kershaw and others would have been unhappy.
