New York Mets C Rob Johnson is the obvious choice to be brought up from Triple-A Buffalo if C Josh Thole (head) is forced to the disabled list with a concussion. C Lucas May is the other option.

New York Mets OFs Mike Baxter and Adam Loewen will battle for a reserve outfield role this spring. Also, C Mike Nickeas will attempt to hold off Cs Rob Johnson and Lucas May for the backup role. OF Angel Pagan is almost certain to lead off and 2B Daniel Murphy is expected to start at second base.

The New York Mets claimed P Jeremy Hefner off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates Monday, Dec. 12, and also signed free-agent C Lucas May (Diamondbacks) and P Garrett Olson (Pirates) to minor league deals.

The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired C Lucas May from the Kansas City Royals Wednesday, June 1, in exchange for P Andrea Pizziconi. May will report to Triple-A Reno.

Kansas City Royals C Lucas May received an outright assignment to Triple-A Omaha, according to MLB.com's Dick Kaegel. May was designated for assignment Wednesday, March 30. He's expected to join the Storm Chasers for the opener Thursday, April 7, at Albuquerque.
