Fantasy Tip: Given the way Puig has burst on the scene and provided the Dodgers with a spark, this isn't a surprise at all. Andre Ethier has been swinging a hot stick of late, but he'll be the loser in the outfield alignment when both Kemp and Crawford are healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Makes sense that they don't want him to travel. LA won't return to Chavez Ravine until June 24, so you'll have to go without him for at least another 10 days. Their hodgepodge of substitute outfielders continues to have minimal NL-only value.

Los Angeles Dodgers SPs Josh Beckett and Chris Capuano were on the field for the brawl that took place in the game with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday, June 11, and because they are on the disabled list, they could face league discipline as a result. OF Matt Kemp was not on the field for the altercation.
Fantasy Tip: We'll know the extent of the disciplinary action tomorrow, when the league announces their decisions.

Fantasy Tip: He might be looking at a return later next week at this rate. Prepare accordingly.

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Dodgers OF Matt Kemp (hamstring) suffered a setback while working out Sunday, June 9. He stretched, ran sprints and did a series of agility drills but reported that his hamstring was bothering him, meaning he is unlikely to be activated from the disabled list when he is eligible to return Friday, June 14.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Friday, June 7, that he feels OF Matt Kemp (hamstring) will return from the 15-day disabled list June 14, which is the first day he is eligible. Kemp will play in at least one minor-league rehab game before returning.
Fantasy Tip: Mattingly's timetable would have Kemp returning next weekend, so those in weekly fantasy leagues will want to keep Kemp reserved at least one more week. Wait until he is officially activated and able to make it through one full game without any setbacks before plugging him back into the active lineup.
Fri, 31 May 2013 18:17:16 -0700
Los Angeles Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig started in center field for the second consecutive game Friday, May 31, for Double-A Chattanooga, as the team might potentially be reviewing his play and determining if he is ready for a call-up with OF Matt Kemp (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: If you're in a deeper NL-only fantasy league, or a long-term keeper format, Puig is certainly worth stashing away on reserve just in case his number is called. Puig is owned in about 40-45 percent of all fantasy leagues, so the time to act is now before your competitors beat you to the punch.

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed OF Matt Kemp (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, May 30. RP Stephen Fife (shoulder) was activated from the DL and optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque, and C Tim Federowicz was recalled from Albuquerque.
Fantasy Tip: Kemp has been a major disappointment for his fantasy owners. He missed two months last year with a hamstring ailment, and his second-half power and speed suffered. This hamstring injury isn't believed to be as serious, but it could linger if he's not careful. Scott Van Slyke will reap the benefits of more frequent playing time with Kemp out, making him more intriguing in deep mixed affairs. Skip Schumaker and Jerry Hairston Jr. might be mixed in at center field, too. Federowicz could be an addition to NL-only rosters that start two catchers. Don't rule out the Dodgers getting desperate and summoning Joc Pederson or Yasiel Puig, either. Pederson wasn't in the lineup at Double-A Chattanooga tonight, meaning a call-up could be imminent.

Fantasy Tip: Get Kemp out of your daily lineups. If he doesn't land on the disabled list, which seems likely, expect him to miss at least a handful of games. Scott Van Slyke will benefit from Kemp's absence in the meantime. If Kemp hits the DL and the Dodgers elect to bring up Joc Pederson or Yasiel Puig, that'll be a different story.

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Matt Kemp (hamstring) left the game Wednesday, May 29, with a strained right hamstring. He'll undergo an MRI, but the team is calling it a mild strain. It's not the same hamstring that forced him to miss 51 games last season.
Fantasy Tip: Hamstring injuries almost always equate to disabled list stints. The fact that Kemp is hitting just .251-2-17 on the year compounds the notion that some time off might be the route the team goes. Skip Schumaker figures to be the short-term answer in center, but it's possible the team could call up top outfield prospect Joc Pederson. He's hitting .313-8-22 with 15 steals at Double-A Chattanooga.
