San Diego Chargers head coach Mike Riley said S Rodney Harrison (knee) isn't as bad as previously thought. He definitely will not play this weekend with a bad strain to the MCL, but there's a chance he could return the following week. LB Orlando Ruff (stinger) is feeling better today and should be available this weekend. CB Tay Cody (mild AC sprain), LB John Holecek (thumb) and DE Marcellus Wiley (stinger) should be okay.

The AP reports the NFL has fined San Diego Chargers DT John Parrella and LB John Holecek $5,000 each for their actions in Sunday's 28-14 win over Cincinnati. Parrella received a 15-yard penalty for a personal foul after a shoving match with Bengals G Matt O'Dwyer. Holecek was ejected for fighting with Mark Roman on a Chargers kickoff with about two minutes remaining.

The team's official site reports LB John Holecek officially signed his contract with the San Diego Chargers on Monday. Holecek will wear jersey number 54 Monday, but should be changing to 52, the number he wore in Buffalo, in the near future. He was expected at Monday's afternoon practice.

Although the meeting went well the club cannot offer him a starting job because the position at linebacker belongs to Marvin Jones. Other teams reportedly interested in his services are New England, San Diego and the New York Jets. The Packers view him as potential competition for MLB Bernardo Harris. The New York Daily News reports the New York Jets are expected to take a look at LB John Holecek, recently released by the Bills. He is expected to visit the Jets next week. Jets defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell is familiar with Holecek, having coached him the last six years in Buffalo. Holecek may not be willing to sign with the Jets as a backup LB.
