Rays | Carlos Corporan traded to Tampa Bay |
Sat, 02 Apr 2016 13:58:10 -0700
New York Yankees C Carlos Corporan was traded to the Tampa Bays on Saturday, April 2, for cash considerations.
Fantasy Tip: Corporan will most likely service minor-league depth behind Hank Conger and Curt Casali. The 32-year-old journeyman is a career .218 hitter, so he would remain well off the fantasy radar even if Conger and Casali were sidelined.

Yankees | Yanks have battle for backup catcher job |
Sun, 28 Feb 2016 08:03:12 -0800
New York Yankees Cs Austin Romine, Gary Sanchez and Carlos Corporan will battle for the backup catcher position during spring training, according to manager Joe Girardi. "I don't care to come into camp and say, 'This person has no chance.' That's not fair to the player, and then I think you're narrow-minded," Girardi said. "You have to keep your eyes open."
Fantasy Tip: Whoever emerges as the winner of this competition won't see much playing time behind Brian McCann, who started 119 games last season. Sanchez and Romine may have a slight edge over Corporan because they are both on the 40-man roster and have had more experience working with the team's pitchers.

Rangers | Two Texas catchers have surgery |
Fri, 16 Oct 2015 14:45:42 -0700
Texas Rangers Cs Chris Gimenez (shoulder) and Carlos Corporan (thumb) each underwent minor surgeries. Giminez had cleanup shoulder sergery, and Corporan had surgery on his left thumb.
Fantasy Tip: Gimenez finished the season strong with a .490 slugging percentage in the second half, and he was excellent against lefties with a 1.095 OPS. He could be a late-round flier in deep mixed and AL-only leagues next spring. Corporan isn't a fantasy-worthy option outside of AL-only leagues, and even there, he is a desperation start.

Rangers | Carlos Corporan set to return |
Mon, 31 Aug 2015 18:22:08 -0700
The Texas Rangers will activate C Carlos Corporan (thumb) from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, Sept. 1. He hasn't played since July 13 due to a bruised left thumb. He will likely be used as a third catcher behind Cs Chris Gimenez and Bobby Wilson.
Fantasy Tip: Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is only worth a look in FantasyScore when he is in the starting lineup, as he does have a little power potential for such a low price tag.

Rangers | Carlos Corporan could return Tuesday |
Sun, 30 Aug 2015 13:24:04 -0700
There is an outside chance that Texas Rangers C Carlos Corporan (thumb) will be activated from the disabled list Tuesday, Sept. 1, when rosters are expanded.
Fantasy Tip: Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) recently moved his minor league rehab assignment from Class AA Frisco to Class AAA Round Rock. He could be useful for owners in AL-only or two-catcher fantasy leagues once he returns to action.

Rangers | Carlos Corporan starting rehab assignment |
Wed, 26 Aug 2015 11:31:35 -0700
Texas Rangers C Carlos Corporan (thumb) will begin his rehab assignment with Class AA Frisco Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Fantasy Tip: Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) should be useful down the stretch in AL-only and two-catcher leagues, since he'll likely play frequently when he returns to Texas. Check to see if he was cut by his previous owner.

Rangers | Carlos Corporan playing catch |
Tue, 11 Aug 2015 20:37:19 -0700
Texas Rangers C Carlos Corporan (thumb) has started to play catch in Arlington, as he makes his way back from a bruised left thumb.
Fantasy Tip: Corporan and Robinson Chirinos are each slowly making their way back from injuries, but neither can be trusted in FantasyScore until they officially return and play at least a full game or two to prove their health and knock off the rust.

Rangers | Texas catchers making slow progress |
Tue, 11 Aug 2015 16:00:30 -0700
Texas Rangers Cs Robinson Chirinos (shoulder) and Carlos Corporan (thumb) are both making slow progress from their injuries, and general manager Jon Daniels said the two are playing catch. Chirinos has taken swings off a tee but has yet to take batting practice.
Fantasy Tip: There remains no timetable for a return for either Chirinos or Corporan. In the meantime, Chris Gimenez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is seeing most of the starts behind home plate, and he's an option to add in AL-only leagues if you're hurting at catcher in the short term.

Rangers | Tomas Telis called up |
Fri, 17 Jul 2015 13:30:26 -0700
Texas Rangers C Tomas Telis was recalled from Class AAA Round Rock Friday, July 17. The team also placed C Carlos Corporan (thumb) on the 15-day disabled list because of a sprained thumb.
Fantasy Tip: Telis is one of the team's better prospects and could share time with Robinson Chirinos while he is up with the team. Telis is hitting .291 with five RBI and 25 RBI this season with Round Rock. Owners on AL-only and two-catcher leagues can consider adding him to their roster. Owners in dynasty leagues should also have interest in Telis if he is available.
