Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports the Miami Dolphins are showing interest in free agent DL Gary Walker (Texans). A source said Walker was recently scheduled to visit South Florida but canceled the trip because of a personal reason. The visit has not been rescheduled.

ESPN.com's John Clayton reports the Houston Texans released DE Gary Walker under the new post June 1 free agency rule. He is free to sign with other teams now, but he will remain on the teams' cap sheet until June 1. On June 1, his cap number will be cleared off.

The Associated Press reports free agent DE Gary Walker (Texans), who battled through injuries last year, told Houston television station KRIV that he may retire from the NFL. "If that's my final decision, just to be healthy, I can go out and play with my kids now," Walker said Monday, March 13.

John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports the Houston Texans have informed DT Gary Walker he is being released. Walker hasn't been officially released because of the salary cap. He was told that if the NFL doesn't have a new collective bargaining agreement in place with the NFLPA that he won't be released until June 1. If they extend the CBA, Walker will be released immediately. Walker, who had four years left on his contract, has the second-highest salary cap figure on the roster to QB David Carr.

Megan Manfull, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans DL Gary Walker (triceps) will go on Injured Reserve and will have surgery Wednesday, Dec. 28, to fix his severed tricep tendon. He will be replaced by either DL Jerry Deloach or DL Travis Johnson (back).
