Cleveland Indians OF David Murphy will make $5.5 million next year and $6 million in 2015. The team has a $7 million option for the 2016 season that includes a $500,000 buyout. Murphy hit a career-low .220 with 13 home runs and 45 RBIs in 142 games with the Texas Rangers last year and can play all three outfield positions. The Tribe will use him in all three spots, and he's expected to see the most time in right field, where he can platoon with OFs Ryan Raburn or Drew Stubbs.

Free-agent OF David Murphy (Rangers) is finalizing a two-year contract with the Cleveland Indians believed to be worth in excess of $10 million in total value, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: In 21 career games at Progressive Field, Murphy has a .365/.407/.568/.975 slash line, so he might be making a great career decision to play his home games in Cleveland. Still, he is more of a Fantasy option in AL-only leagues and deeper mixed formats heading into 2014.

The Texas Rangers acquired OF Alex Rios from the Chicago White Sox Friday, Aug. 9. The White Sox will also send $1 million to the Rangers for Rios' salary. The White Sox will receive a player to be named or cash considerations. The Rangers are expected to send SS Leury Garcia to Chicago. With Rios gone, OF Avisail Garcia could come up and see playing time in the majors. Garcia had 10 hits in 24 at-bats (.417) with a home run and nine RBIs with Triple-A Charlotte.
Fantasy Tip: Texas was desperately seeking outfield help with Nelson Cruz suspended for the rest of the season. David Murphy and Craig Gentry are expected to platoon in left field from here on out.
Blake Tekotte was called up today, but if Garcia is brought up also, the latter should see most of the playing time for the rest of the year. Add Garcia immediately in AL-only leagues, for now.

Texas Rangers OF Nelson Cruz will accept his suspension immediately for his involvement in the Biogenesis scandal.
Fantasy Tip: This confirms that Cruz is on the Biogenesis suspension list, which was expected at this point. However, he was rumored to be the only player prepared to appeal a suspension. The suspension is expected to be for 50 games, which is the exact amount of games the Rangers have remaining.
David Murphy and Jeff Baker will see a big boost in playing time in the outfield, assuming Ron Washington sticks to his word and continues using Jurickson Profar at designated hitter or on the infield. Craig Gentry should also see an uptick in PT.

The Texas Rangers plan on making SS Jurickson Profar into a left fielder to keep his bat in the lineup. They hope to have him ready to make the move in seven to 10 days, according to FOXSportsSouthwest.com's Anthony Andro.
Fantasy Tip: Profar's bat is far too valuable to be left out of the lineup. David Murphy, and to a lesser extent, Craig Gentry, will be most affected by this plan. Profar should be owned in all leagues now that we know he'll continue to see regular playing time with Ian Kinsler back in the fold.
