Florida Marlins minor league P Jeff Allison has been placed on the restricted list, according to the Associated Press. He had been working out at the team's spring training and Class A complex in Jupiter, Fla. A statement released by the team revealed that the organization had become aware of pending legal issues against Allison, and he will remain inactive until they are resolved.

Joe Frisaro, of Florida.Marlins.MLB.com, reports Florida Marlins P Jeff Allison is attempting a comeback. Allison, the 16th pick in the 2003 draft, was placed on the temporary inactive list in late June. He has been in Jupiter, Fla., and when he is considered ready to pitch, he will likely join the team's Gulf Coast League affiliate. The last time he pitched was in 2005 for low Class A Greensboro.

Updating a previous post, The Greensboro News and Record is reporting an arrest warrant was issued in Greensboro, N.C., for former Florida Marlins first-round draft pick Jeff Allison, who failed to appear at a court hearing. Allison was arrested in October and charged with felony possession of heroin and possession of a stolen vehicle. Guilford County Judge Susan Burch issued the warrant and a $2,500 secured bond after Allison missed the preliminary hearing. The charges carry up to four years in prison.

Updating previous reports, Florida Marlins minor league P Jeff Allison is scheduled to appear in court, Thursday, Dec. 28, on charges of heroin possession and possessing a stolen vehicle, according to the Associated Press. The hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 14, but was postponed in Guilford County's drug court. Allison was arrested in October on charges carrying a four-year maximum sentence, but lawyers have discussed allowing a waiver for jail time if he completes a drug rehabilitation program.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel is reporting Florida Marlins P Jeff Allison faces three felony charges -- one count for heroin possession and two for possession of stolen vehicles -- stemming from separate incidents last week in North Carolina, a spokesperson with the Guilford County Clerk of Courts said. Allison also has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting a public officer, both misdemeanors, in connection with an Oct. 25 incident.

ESPN.com reports Florida Marlins P Jeff Allison (personal) suffered a second heroin overdose Monday, Aug. 7. Allison was found lying unconscious on the bathroom floor of a two-story home Monday. Heroin was cited as the reason for his condition and he was taken to a hospital and released the same day. His last overdose came in 2004.

Updating previous items, Aaron Beard, of the Associated Press, reports Florida Marlins prospect SP Jeff Allison pitched for the first time in nearly two years Thursday night, May 5. Allison started for Class-A Greensboro. The 20-year-old's career had been derailed after a heroin overdose in July 2004.
