Nationals | Anthony Rendon still has pain |
Wed, 25 Mar 2015 11:20:50 -0700
Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals 3B/2B Anthony Rendon (knee) said he still can't swing a bat without experiencing pain in his knee. "It's still lingering. There is no point in pushing it right now and going back to square one during the season," Rendon said. "We might as well fix it right now rather than later." Rendon may not be ready for opening day, and 3B Ian Stewart is the leading candidate to fill in at the hot corner if that's the case. Stewart has played regularly this spring with Rendon down, and he has hit .323 with three home runs and four RBI. INFs Danny Espinosa and Kevin Frandsen are other options.
Fantasy Tip: Rendon is a player that is often taken at the tail end of the first round in standard 12-team mixed leagues heading into 2015, and his eligibility at both third and second base are very attractive. Keep an eye on his status as spring training comes to a close. But his minor knee injury really shouldn't cause his draft value to fluctuate much.
