White Sox | John Danks having a horrible June

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 22:54:53 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP John Danks allowed nine runs - five earned - and nine hits over 5 1/3 innings in a loss against the Minnesota Twins Monday, June 22. He is now 0-4 with a 6.85 ERA in June, and 3-9 with a 6.82 ERA in 16 career meetings against the Twins.

Fantasy Tip: Danks ($3,900; or 7.8% of cap) isn't going very well right now, and he could potentially be in danger of losing his rotation spot. It's a good idea to avoid him in FantasyScore until he shows more efficiency.

White Sox | John Danks facing RHH lineup

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 14:33:25 -0700

Chicago White SP John Danks will face a Detroit Tigers' lineup entirely made up of right-handed hitters Saturday, June 6.

Fantasy Tip: Danks ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has essentially been banished from FantasyScore lineups as it is, but he is coming off his best start of the season. Right-handed hitters are hitting .402 off Danks this season, with eight home runs, 15 doubles and three triples in 40 and one-third innings this season. Avoid Danks at all costs.

White Sox | John Danks tosses odd shutout

Sun, 31 May 2015 18:34:58 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP John Danks allowed 10 hits, including five extra-base hits, in a 6-0 shutout win over the Houston Astros Sunday, May 31, becoming the only pitcher since 1914 to throw a shutout while allowing that many hits and extra-base hits.

Fantasy Tip: Don't let the end result fool you. Danks ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) worked around trouble all game, and he still owns a 4.81 ERA this season. Even at his cheap price tag, he is too risky to use at FantasyScore.

White Sox | Two starters struggling

Sun, 03 May 2015 15:09:25 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP John Danks and SP Hector Noesi have allowed a combined nine homers and a 1.47 WHIP in their eight starts, which covered only 39 1/3 innings.

Fantasy Tip: The whole White Sox rotation is struggling, but you have to wonder if Danks ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) and Noesi ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) will have a short leash. With Carlos Rodon ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) being stretched out, one or both of these pitchers could lose a starting spot. It's best to avoid both.

White Sox | Carlos Rodon could be in rotation soon

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 10:01:57 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Carlos Rodon, who is equipped with a devastating slider and who has been compared with Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw and San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner, will initially pitch out of the bullpen, but he could find himself in the starting rotation as soon as the series against the Detroit Tigers May 5-7. A heavy workload at North Carolina State last year makes him an injury risk, but he could still replace SPs John Danks or Hector Noesi in the rotation and throw a total of around 175 to 180 innings in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Rodon is currently unavailable at FantasyScore because he'll initially pitch in relief. In all other fantasy leagues, Rodon should be acquired immediately and stashed in the meantime. There's a good chance he's already owned in AL-only formats.

White Sox | John Danks makes delivery adjustments

Sun, 22 Feb 2015 12:55:11 -0800

Chicago White Sox SP John Danks has lowered his arm angle and his leg kick upon pitch delivery, in an attempt to cut down on the number of home runs he has given up. Danks said the mechanical adjustments, which actually went into effect during the final month of last season, have improved his command and added some sink to his fastball, in addition to resulting in more ground balls being hit.

Fantasy Tip: After making the adjustments, Danks posted a 3.94 ERA and allowed just one home run in 29 2/3 innings over five September starts. Heis worth monitoring and should be considered in the later rounds of drafts for AL-only and deep mixed leagues.
