Markakis is pain-free and has full range of motion in his neck and upper back. He's played in only four spring games. Fantasy Tip: Markakis has been pretty healthy in his career until last year when he broke bones in his hand and thumb. There is reason to believe he'll be ready by the start of the season. When healthy, he's pretty darn consistent.

Markakis is no longer dealing with pain and has full range of motion in his neck and upper back. Fantasy Tip: This preseason injury has dropped Markakis into an area where he can return nice value again this season. However, he doesn't seem to be out of the woods yet. Keep tabs on his status.

Wed, 13 Mar 2013 14:59:47 -0700 Baltimore Orioles OF Nick Markakis (neck) is optimistic that he'll be ready for opening day after dealing with a small herniated disc in his neck. A spine specialist suggested that he rest two to three weeks to let the inflammation and pain subside. "It's already been a week, so we will see where we are at in seven to 10 days," Markakis said. "But he also told me it could be eight to 12 weeks before I'm completely symptom free. We're looking on the positive side. We are going in the right direction with getting all the inflammation and pain out right now."
