San Diego Padres manager Bud Black said the team wants SP Tim Stauffer (elbow) to rest his strained elbow for an extensive period of time. Black said Stauffer will not be ready to come off the disabled list when he is eligible.

San Diego Padres SP Tim Stauffer (elbow) met with Dr. Lewis Yocum to receive a second opinion on his strained right elbow. Stauffer has been on the 15-day disabled list twice this season because of his elbow.

San Diego Padres SP Tim Stauffer (triceps) allowed four runs - three earned - and seven hits with three walks and five strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision Monday, May 14, against the Washington Nationals. He threw 55 of his 91 pitches for strikes.

San Diego Padres SP Tim Stauffer (triceps) retired 17 straight hitters at one point Wednesday, May 9, during his third and final rehab start with Class A Lake Elsinore. Stauffer worked seven shutout innings, allowing three hits and no walks with five strikeouts. He threw 78 pitches. He is scheduled to make his 2012 debut against the Washington Nationals either Monday, May 14, or Tuesday, May 15.

San Diego Padres SP Tim Stauffer (elbow) will make his next minor league rehab start with Class A Lake Elsinore Wednesday, May 9. The date was set, but there was previously some uncertainty whether the start would be with Lake Elsinore or Triple-A Tucson.
