"We'll ease into it a little more than normal," Stauffer said. "At this point, it's tough to gauge. We will just have to see how it goes. But right now, everything is going along as planned." He can make $1 million if he's on the active roster this year and incentives could raise the deal to $1.25 million based on the number of games started. He can request his release if he's not on the roster by June 1.

Ps Anthony Bass, Casey Kelly, Tyson Ross, Eric Stults, Freddy Garcia and Robbie Erlin are all in the picture. SP Tim Stauffer (elbow) is about two weeks behind the other pitchers. SPs Andrew Cashner (thumb), Joe Wieland (elbow) and Cory Luebke (elbow) aren't options because they are rehabbing from injuries. Cashner is expected to be back on a mound by March 1 and Wieland and Luebke won't return until midseason or later after having Tommy John surgery.
