Diamondbacks | Rickie Weeks draws into the lineup

Wed, 25 May 2016 13:52:54 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Rickie Weeks is starting in right field and batting second against Pittsburgh Pirtates SP Jeff Locke Wednesday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Weeks has only received 46 plate appearances this season and turned them into a modest .238/.283/.429 slash line. He is nothing more than a depth option in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues. However, in daily contests Wednesday, Weeks is a decent low-priced flier given his lineup spot and respectable .813 OPS against southpaws since the beginning of 2014.

Diamondbacks | Yasmany Tomas resting Saturday

Sat, 21 May 2016 10:25:40 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Yasmany Tomas is out of the starting lineup against St. Louis Cardinals SP Mike Leake Saturday, May 21. 2B/OF Rickie Weeks will start in left field and bat fifth. In addition, C Welington Castillo is starting behind the plate and batting sixth, INF/OF Chris Owings will bat seventh and play left field and INF Nick Ahmed will bat eighth and play shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: Weeks, Castillo and Owings are productive sources of cap relief for daily fantasy contests but Ahmed should be avoided due to his .188 average in 138 at-bats this year, including a .176 mark versus right-handed pitching.

Diamondbacks | Rickie Weeks hitting cleanup

Sat, 14 May 2016 15:56:21 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Rickie Weeks is hitting cleanup Saturday, May 14, with OF Yasmany Tomas out of the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Weeks' numbers don't jump off the page with a .233-0-3 line, but he is 4-for-8 (.500) against Jake Peavy. Hitting behind Paul Goldschmidt, Weeks is an attractive basement flyer.

Diamondbacks | Yasmany Tomas, David Peralta out injured

Sun, 08 May 2016 09:12:02 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Yasmany Tomas (neck) and OF David Peralta (forearm) are not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Mike Foltynewicz Sunday, May 8. 2B Rickie Weeks will start in left field and is batting fourth, while 3B Brandon Drury will start in right field and is batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Weeks has been used mostly as a pinch hitter so far this season but does have two hits in his last three games. He probably can be avoided in most leagues. Drury is hitting .370 with two home runs and three RBI over the last seven days and should be a starting candidate in all leagues.

Diamondbacks | Jake Lamb, David Peralta out vs. lefty

Tue, 03 May 2016 13:32:50 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks 3B Jake Lamb and OF David Peralta are not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins left-handed SP Justin Nicolino Tuesday, May 3. 3B Brandon Drury is at the hot corner and hitting second, while OF Rickie Weeks is starting in left field and batting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: If you're choosing one of the these players in daily contests, it best be Drury, who has gone 9-for-28 (.321) with three home runs and five RBI in seven straight games. His hot streak has been bad news for Lamb and has basically relegated him to more of a bench role. Drury should be attracting the attention of those in mixed leagues, as well. Weeks, despite hitting cleanup, is more of a low-end daily commodity.

Diamondbacks | Quintet of Arizona hitters catch a break

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 12:02:26 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks 1B Paul Goldschmidt, OF David Peralta, 2B Jean Segura, OF Socrates Brito and C Welington Castillo are not in the lineup on Sunday, April 17, against San Diego Padres SP Robbie Erlin. 2B/OF Rickie Weeks will start in left and bat second, INF Phil Gosselin will play first base and hit third, INF/OF Brandon Drury will move to second base and bat fifth, OF Chris Owings will man center and bat seventh while C Chris Herrmann will set up behind the plate and hit eighth.

Fantasy Tip: For some perspective on how much offensive firepower Arizona is resting on Sunday, Yasmany Tomas moves up from eighth in Saturday's lineup to fourth in today's order. In the wake of last night's 14-inning marathon, the most recommended plays could the pitchers (Erlin and Patrick Corbin), each of whom will face a lineup missing about a good chunk of its regular hitters.

Diamondbacks | Arizona lands Rickie Weeks

Sat, 27 Feb 2016 14:06:42 -0800

Free-agent 2B/OF Rickie Weeks (Mariners) signed a minor-league deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday, Feb. 27. According to a source, Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale said Weeks will see most of his reps in the outfield this spring and is a candidate for the final roster spot.

Fantasy Tip: Once a top prospect, Weeks has disappointed for most of his big-league career. He's coming off a season in which he batted .167 over 37 games for the Seattle Mariners before getting released in June. He's well off the fantasy radar.

Mariners | Seth Smith, Dustin Ackley sitting

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 15:27:03 -0700

Seattle Mariners OFs Seth Smith and Dustin Ackley are out of the starting lineup against a left-handed pitcher Tuesday, June 2. OF Rickie Weeks is serving as the designated hitter and batting sixth against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia, while OF Justin Ruggiano is starting in left field and hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Weeks ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) and Ruggiano ($2,200) aren't playing that much this year and have really nothing to show for. However, they could be very valuable tonight at FantasyScore for the price. Sabathia allows a slash line of .345/.379/.546 to right-handed hitters this year.

Mariners | Seth Smith on the bench

Sat, 23 May 2015 07:53:44 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Seth Smith is not in the starting lineup Saturday, May 23. OF Rickie Weeks will start in left field and bat leadoff for the Mariners.

Fantasy Tip: Smith ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) likely is sitting out because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Weeks ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is hitting only .185 this season and may not be a great option on FantasyScore.

Mariners | Rickie Weeks draws start

Wed, 20 May 2015 12:19:02 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Rickie Weeks is at designated hitter and leading off Wednesday, May 20, against the Baltimore Orioles.

Fantasy Tip: Weeks ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is trying to keep his average from falling below the Mendoza line. He has a .200 average in the last 30 days, but Weeks is hitting just .125 in the last week. Your best bet is to pass and go for a similar-priced outfielder.
