Detroit Tigers OF Delmon Young might not have many suitors next season after his latest off-field incident, even if he's a free-agent bargain. "I wouldn't deal with him," said one National League executive, in what was pretty much a typical response. "I'd rather reward a guy from Triple-A than go that route. I don't know who would mess with him, really - except maybe Bill Belichick."

The Detroit Tigers activated OF Delmon Young from the restricted list Friday, May 4, and designated 1B Brad Eldred for assignment in a corresponding move. Young will be available off the bench Friday.

Detroit Tigers OF Delmon Young won't be in the starting lineup Friday, May 4, but he may play in the game. "And that's the only reason," manager Jim Leyland said, "Because he needs to get back, get some batting practice, run around the field a little bit." Young is expected to be in the starting lineup shortly thereafter.

Detroit Tigers OF Delmon Young will not appeal his seven-game suspension, and general manager Dave Dombrowski said Young won't face additional discipline from the team when he returns from his suspension Friday, May 4.

Updating a previous report, Major League Baseball has suspended Detroit Tigers OF Delmon Young for seven games for a drunken anti-Semitic rant and arrest last week. The suspension is retroactive to Friday, April 27. Young can return Friday, May 4.

Major League Baseball will announce a decision to suspend Detroit Tigers OF Delmon Young for anti-Semitic comments he made during an arrest last week, according to two sources. He was released on $5,000 bail Friday, April 27. It's unclear how long his suspension will last.

Updating previous reports, Detroit Tigers OF Delmon Young will be evaluated under baseball's employee assistance program Monday, April 30. General manager Dave Dombrowski said Young will be evaluated for alcohol and anger management issues and if the doctor doing the evaluation allows it, he could return to the lineup as soon as Tuesday, May 1, against the Kansas City Royals.
