Orioles | Delmon Young sitting Tuesday

Tue, 19 May 2015 12:00:45 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 19. OF Alejandro De Aza is starting in right field and hitting eighth in the batting order against Seattle Mariners SP Taijuan Walker.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is hitting barely over .200 this year has has just four hits in 26 at-bats in May (one homer, three RBI). Hitting near the bottom of the lineup also takes what little FantasyScore appeal he might have had away. It's best to avoid him tonight.

Orioles | Alejandro De Aza starting against RHP

Sat, 16 May 2015 13:42:48 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Alejandro De Aza will start in right field and bat sixth in the order Saturday, May 16, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. OF Delmon Young will be given the day off against RHP Matt Shoemaker.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is hitting for a .240 batting average with three home runs, four walks and 22 strikeouts against righties this season. De Aza possesses some upside while batting directly behind the heart of the Orioles order, but FantasyScore owners should be looking for a more reliable and consistent option. De Aza is just 5-for-25 in his last seven games.

Orioles | Delmon Young batting sixth

Fri, 15 May 2015 12:40:03 -0700

Correcting a previous report, Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is batting sixth and playing right field against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Friday, May 15. OF Alejandro De Aza is playing left field Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Young ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is batting just .220 with two runs and three RBI over his last 11 games (42 plate appearances). FantasyScore players should likely aim higher, as Young projects as little more than a low-priced flier Friday.

Orioles | Delmon Young sitting vs. Angels

Fri, 15 May 2015 12:17:44 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is not in the starting lineup against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Friday, May 15. OF Alejandro De Aza is starting in right field and batting second.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Young ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday. It is worth noting this is the second consecutive game Young has sat against a right-handed starting pitcher. De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI in his last start, but previously, he was mired in a 5-for-41 funk. Consider him nothing more than a low-priced flier for FantasyScore contests Friday.

Orioles | Delmon Young out of the lineup

Wed, 13 May 2015 13:30:20 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is not in the starting lineup against the Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday, May 13. OF David Lough is batting seventh and playing left field.

Fantasy Tip: The Orioles shifted Alejandro De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) over to right field, which is where Young ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) has been playing the majroity of the time. Make sure to avoid Young in all fantasy formats Wednesday. Lough ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is just 2-for-10 during May, and like Dez Aza, Lough should be viewed as nothing more than a low-priced flier for FantasyScore players Wednesday.

Orioles | Delmon Young batting cleanup vs. NYY

Thu, 07 May 2015 13:35:22 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is batting fourth and playing right field against the New York Yankees Thursday, May 7.

Fantasy Tip: Young ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) has shown no pop this season, but he has a respectable .327 batting average and .351 on-base percentage. At his cap hit, and hitting in a prime RBI spot in the lineup, FantasyScore players have a potential bargain on their hands.

Orioles | Travis Snider, Delmon Young out

Wed, 06 May 2015 15:16:41 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OFs Travis Snider and Delmon Young are out of the starting lineup Wednesday, May 6. OF Alejandro De Aza is starting in right field and leading off, while OF David Lough is starting in left field and hitting sixth in the batting order against New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) and Lough ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) are both sleeper outfield picks at FantasyScore tonight. deGrom has been much better at home this year, but he continues to struggled against lefty hitters.

Orioles | Travis Snider back in lineup

Sat, 02 May 2015 13:37:48 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Travis Snider draws back into the lineup Saturday, May 2, against the Tampa Bay Rays. Snider replaces OF Delmon Young and will hit sixth in the order and start in right field.

Fantasy Tip: Snider ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) will face right-hander Chris Archer of Tampa Bay, but he has dramatic reverse splits to open the season. Snider is hitting .500 of lefties and just .220 off right-handers to open the 2015 season. Snider will have the potential to drive in some runs, with Chris Davis and Steve Pearce batting immediately ahead of him. Snider and his moderate price make for a decent FantasyScore option, but it's not the typical righty vs. lefty scenario it seems like at first glance.

Orioles | Delmon Young hitting third again

Wed, 29 Apr 2015 10:50:45 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is back in the third spot in the batting order and is starting in right field against Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija Wednesday, April 29. OF Travis Snider is on the bench yet again.

Fantasy Tip: Travis Snider continues to lose playing time to Young ($2,600, 5.2% of cap), who is hitting .391 (9-for-23) with five RBI since April 19. Young may not be worth the cheap price at FantasyScore today, though, while facing Samardzija. Snider, after a hot start, has just five hits and three RBI since April 19. With inconsistent playing time, he's not worth a roster spot in shallow mixed leagues.

Orioles | Delmon Young batting third

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 13:09:18 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is batting third and playing right field against the Chicago White Sox Monday, April 27.

Fantasy Tip: Young ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) drove in five RBI Sunday, April 26, and he is locked in at the plate with a .448 batting average over his last 29 at-bats. It is also worth noting Young is receiving more at-bats against right-handed pitchers of late. He was a solid fantasy contributor in his younger years, and a semi-rebound year isn't out of the question if Young continues to receive consistent at-bats. He could be worth a look in deep mixed leagues, and at his price point and in his current form Young is a nice FantasyScore play.
