FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports the Los Angeles Dodgers could have acquired SP CC Sabathia, 3B Casey Blake and IF Jamey Carroll from the Cleveland Indians without giving up any of their top young major leaguers, according to major league sources. Cleveland would have received a package with the following types of players, if not the exact names: 3B Andy LaRoche, P Cory Wade, Double-A P James McDonald and Single-A C Carlos Santana. According to sources cited by the Los Angeles Daily News, Dodgers owner Frank McCourt vetoed the deal because the trade would have raised the 2008 payroll by more than $7.5 million.

Carroll must pass a physical to finalize the agreement, which includes a club option for 2009. He gets $1.7 million this year and $2.15 million in 2008.
