Athletics | Coco Crisp out of lineup Saturday

Sat, 14 May 2016 12:03:54 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp is not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Andriese Saturday, May 14. OF Billy Burns will lead off and play center field, while C Matt McBride will bat ninth and start behind the plate. C Stephen Vogt will bat fifth and serve as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Burns is batting .316 (6-for-19) over the past week and is worthy of consideration for daily fantasy lineups. McBride is making his A's debut after spending parts of the previous three seasons with the Colorado Rockies and he should be viewed as nothing more than a source of desperation cap relief.

Athletics | Billy Burns out Monday

Mon, 09 May 2016 12:02:40 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Billy Burns is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 9. OF Coco Crisp is starting in center field and is hitting leadoff against Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp recently returned from a heel issue and went 3-for-5 with a double over the weekend in his return. Crisp is only hitting .234 on the season with three home runs and eight RBI. He's more of a low-end outfield consideration in DFS, but the leadoff spot meshes well and a matchup against the inconsistent Buchholz gives him value as a sleeper pick.

Athletics | Khris Davis, Coco Crisp sitting out

Sun, 08 May 2016 09:57:15 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Khris Davis and OF Coco Crisp are not in the starting lineup against Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman Sunday, May 8. 2B Jed Lowrie will serve as the designated hitter. OF Mark Canha will start in left field and is batting second, while 2B Chris Coghlan will start at second base and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Both Canha and Coghlan are hitting under .150 over the first month of the season and are not strong starting candidates for owners.

Athletics | Jed Lowrie out of lineup Sunday

Sun, 08 May 2016 08:19:11 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Jed Lowrie is not in the starting lineup against Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman Sunday, May 8. INF Chris Coghlan will bat eighth and play the keystone position. In addition, OF Mark Canha is batting second and playing left field, with OFs Coco Crisp and Khris Davis receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Lowrie's absence from Sunday's lineup is not surprising, given that he manned second base during both games of Saturday's doubleheader. Coghlan has collected just three hits in his last 36 at-bats and should be avoided in all fantasy formats.

Athletics | Three A's out for nightcap

Sat, 07 May 2016 14:23:54 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt, OF Coco Crisp and 3B Danny Valencia are out for Game 2 of a doubleheader Saturday, May 7. C Josh Phegley is hitting eighth, 1B Billy Butler is hitting sixth and 3B Chris Coghlan hits fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Phegley has a .310 average on the season and could be a sneaky basement flyer against Ubaldo Jimenez. Cogs is hitting just .155 and .118 in the last seven days. He has four homers and 11 RBI, and the matchup is nice. We could see streaming him tonight. Butler has been a shell of his former self this year, and he's not worth the start.

Athletics | Danny Valencia, Coco Crisp starting

Sat, 07 May 2016 08:28:55 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia (hamstring) and OF Coco Crisp (heel) are in the starting lineup for the first game of a doubleheader Saturday, May 7, against the Baltimore Orioles. SP Mike Wright will be the starting pitcher for the Orioles.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia recently returned from the disabled list and is receiving his first start. Crisp has been dealing with the injury and has not been in the lineup for the last two games. Both players are risky option for owners because of their injuries, but Valencia is probably a more attractive option in daily fantasy leagues.

Athletics | Coco Crisp could be available

Fri, 06 May 2016 14:30:02 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (heel) is feeling better and could be available off the bench Friday, May 6, according to manager Bob Melvin.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp is hitting only .208/.293/.389, so it's not as if fantasy owners are impatiently waiting for his return. Billy Butler has benefited from a few extra starts this week, but neither player is attractive outside of AL-only leagues this year.

Athletics | Coco Crisp still out of the lineup

Fri, 06 May 2016 12:15:52 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (heel) is not in the starting lineup against the Baltimore Orioles Friday, May 6.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp has been nursing a heel injury and will miss his third straight game Friday. Billy Butler has been filling in as the designated hitter with Crisp out, but both hitters are struggling to start the season. Butler is 8-for-37 (.216) and Crisp is 15-for-72 (.208), and neither are viable options outside of AL-only formats.

Athletics | Coco Crisp has heel issue

Wed, 04 May 2016 11:20:56 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (heel) is dealing with a heel issue recently and is seeing a doctor Wednesday, May 4, according to manager Bob Melvin. However, Crisp could be available off the bench.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like a minor ailment, but with the 36-year-old injury-prone outfielder, you can't be totally sure. Crisp is hitting only .208 (15-for-72) with three home runs and eight RBI, and he's really only useful as outfield depth in AL-only leagues.

Athletics | Josh Phegley draws into lineup

Tue, 03 May 2016 15:40:07 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Josh Phegley is starting behind the plate and is hitting sixth against Seattle Mariners SP Hisashi Iwakuma Tuesday, May 3. OF Coco Crisp will start on the bench. C Stephen Vogt is serving as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: You could certainly do worst than Phegley if you're looking for low-priced catching options in DFS action, but keep in mind the A's backup catcher hit only .220 with four of his nine home runs against right-handers in 2015.
