Athletics | Coco Crisp to 60-day DL

Mon, 08 Jun 2015 09:22:15 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) was moved to the 60-day disabled list over the weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp is facing an uphill battle to play again this year, and there's a good chance he may never play in the big leagues again if he needs surgery. Billy Burns ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has become an everyday outfielder and should be owned in all leagues for his speed. Burns is also a very valuable commodity for daily games while hitting atop Oakland's lineup.

Athletics | Coco Crisp receives epidural

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 14:19:15 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) received an epidural injection in his neck Monday, June 1, and he'll be shut down for the next month.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp could return at some point in the second half and see playing time, but he's fighting an uphill battle at his age. Ben Zobrist ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has been playing left field against righties since coming off the DL, and his bat could be coming around after hitting a grand slam last night. Consider Zobrist an under-the-radar value play in the right matchups.

Athletics | Coco Crisp to undergo bone scan

Fri, 29 May 2015 16:57:01 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) is scheduled to undergo a bone scan Monday, June 1. He will not receive the epidural until after the scan.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation to see if Crisp ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) will be able to play again this season. Sam Fuld ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) could see regular playing time with Crisp sidelined but is not a great option on FantasyScore since he is hitting only .195 on the season.

Athletics | Coco Crisp's career in jeopardy

Fri, 29 May 2015 09:15:39 -0700

Updating previous reports, Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) would be forced to retire if he's unable to avoid neck surgery. He's going to receive an epidural Friday, May 29, and be shut down for a month.

Fantasy Tip: With him being idle until the end of June, he's unlikely to be back before the All-Star break. Only DL him in single-universe leagues.

Athletics | Coco Crisp out at least one month

Thu, 28 May 2015 16:23:53 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) will receive an epidural Friday, May 28. Crisp will miss at least one month following the injection.

Fantasy Tip: With Crisp out of the lineup, the A's have been relying primarily on OFs Billy Burns ($3,400, 6.8% of cap), Josh Reddick ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) and Sam Fuld ($2,500, 5.0% of cap). With a slightly discounted price, Burns is the most intriguing option for FantasyScore purposes.

Athletics | Coco Crisp placed on DL

Sat, 23 May 2015 07:22:10 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, May 23. The team also recalled P Kendall Graveman from Class AAA Nashville.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is dealing with a similar injury that kept him out at times last season, so it is not known when he will be able to play again. Billy Burns ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) should receive more playing time and could be a starting option on FantasyScore even though he does not have any home runs or RBI.

Athletics | Coco Crisp heading to DL

Fri, 22 May 2015 18:34:31 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) will likely be placed on the disabled list Saturday, May 23, to make room for SP Kendall Graveman.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp has been adjusting his approach at the plate to accommodate the pain, and it has taken its toll. He has just two hits in 45 at-bats this year, and unless he is fully healthy when he returns, he should be avoided at FantasyScore.

Athletics | Coco Crisp has same neck injury

Fri, 22 May 2015 14:19:44 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) is dealing with the same injury he suffered a year ago, and surgery to fix his issue would be considered career-ending.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is likely to land on the DL for a significant period of time, and you shouldn't hold your breath for him to return this year. Billy Burns ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) gains long-term value in all formats, and he's a nice value play at FantasyScore for his speed. Sam Fuld ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) should also see an increase in playing time with Crisp out, but he's mainly a desperation sleep play, especially with the way he's been swinging the stick of late.

Athletics | Coco Crisp has MRI in Dallas

Thu, 21 May 2015 14:41:22 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) underwent an MRI in Dallas Thursday, May 21, and he will meet with a doctor Friday, May 22.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp's ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) fantasy stock is dwindling, and at this point, he should not be owned in shallow mixed leagues, and you should consider replacing him in all other leagues, too. Billy Burns ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) and Sam Fuld ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) project to return to the platoon in center field they had when Crisp was out earlier this season. Burns has more upside, although both outfielders are stolen base threats. FantasyScore players should only target them when they land in a favorable matchup.

Athletics | Coco Crisp could be out awhile

Thu, 21 May 2015 09:00:35 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) will travel to Dallas to see a doctor Thursday, May 21, and he could be out for an extended period of time and might need surgery. "I'll try to come back sometime this year," Crisp said. "And if not, then next year." He's hitting only .044 in 13 games since coming off the disabled list after having elbow surgery. Crisp played in just 126 games in 2014 due to neck problems.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) should not be owned at this point in shallow mixed leagues, and you should consider dropping him in all other leagues, as well. Billy Burns ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) and Sam Fuld ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) are expected to platoon in center field with Crisp out. Burns is the much better FantasyScore commodity with more upside, although both outfielders are stolen base threats.
