Hill Jr., of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports S Marcus Coleman, who was recently released by the Dallas Cowboys following his recent arrest and DWI charge, expressed regret and offered an apology to his former coach and team. "I apologize to the organization, my teammates, my family and my friends," Coleman said. "I am very disappointed in this whole situation. I want to be especially apologetic to Coach (Bill) Parcells because I know I let him down. And he cares not only about my football life, but my life in general."

ESPN's Ed Werder reports Dallas Cowboys S Marcus Coleman has been released from the team. Coleman was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated Saturday, Nov. 11, according to media reports in Dallas. Coleman reportedly failed a sobriety test and sources told KTVT-TV that Coleman was released shortly after posting a $500 bond.

Rob Phillips, of DallasCowboys.com, reports Dallas Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells emphasized that rookie S Pat Watkins needs to shake off the poor performance he had during Week 5 and learn from his mistakes. "He needs to get it going," Parcells said of Watkins. "He had a little a tendency to not see the ball in the air and jump the first receiver's move. That's really what happened (Sunday) night. You have to see the ball thrown before you break." Watkins struggled in pass coverage, allowing several big plays to the Philadelphia Eagles. If Watkins continues to struggle, safeties Keith Davis or Marcus Coleman, who will return from his suspension this week, could replace him.

The Cowboys can utilize a one-week roster exemption when Coleman is released from reserve/suspended. That would allow him to resume practicing with the team without counting against the Cowboys' 53-man roster. If the club decides to add Coleman to the active roster next week, they will have to release a player.

Coleman signed a one-year contract worth $810,000 that included two $20,000 roster bonuses. If suspended, Coleman would not earn the first bonus for being on the active roster for the first eight games. He is due another $20,000 if he is on the roster for the final eight games. His suspension is expected to keep him out until the team's game against the Houston Texans Sunday, Oct. 15.

League sources confirmed Tuesday, Aug. 22, that Coleman has violated the NFL's substance-abuse policies. He's expected to be suspended for the first four games of the regular season. In July 2004, Coleman was convicted of a drunken driving charge in Houston. Coleman played the past four seasons for the Houston Texans.

"Wherever they need me. I'll be playing corner or safety or in the nickel. I'm kind of the utility guy. I have to learn a lot of things - a lot of positions. I guess that's why they brought me in here." Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells has said he plans to play Coleman at cornerback and hopefully use him as the nickel safety. Coleman could also be used on special teams. "That's what I hope he can do," said Parcells. "But I don't know he can do it yet. He's a little rusty right now and a little overweight. The trial will take place before the team's training camp begins on Friday, July 30. According to prosecutors, Coleman was involved in a minor one-car wreck on May 6, and when police arrived, he was found standing next to his car. He was given two sobriety tests, which they say he failed. The maximum penalty for a Class B misdemeanor is six months in jail and a $2,000 fine.
