Dodgers.MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports the Los Angeles Dodgers have signed veteran free agent C Pat Borders (Mariners) to an undisclosed minor league contract that includes a non-roster invitation to attend Spring Training. Borders will likely end up backing up prospect C Russell Martin at Triple-A Las Vegas.

According to The Seattle Times, Seattle Mariners SP Jamie Moyer and C Pat Borders, at a combined 84 years and 199 days, were the third-oldest battery to start a game and the oldest with both pitcher and catcher over 40 years old. Moyer and Borders started the May 28 contest with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

The Seattle Times' Bob Finnigan reports Seattle Mariners C Pat Borders will not unseat regular C Miguel Olivo from his job, but Borders could see some playing time. "He can't and won't play every day," Mariners MAN Mike Hargrove said. "That's from me. Pat would go out there every day on bloody stumps."

ESPN.com reports Seattle Mariners C Pat Borders had his contract purchased from Triple-A Tacoma Friday May 20. Borders was the starting catcher for the team's game Sunday, May 22.
