The Baltimore Orioles bullpen has retired all 19 batters it has faced in the current series against the Tampa Bay Rays. RP's Jim Johnson, Luis Ayala, Pedro Strop and Darren O'Day have combined for a perfect 6 1/3 innings, recording 12 groundouts, three flyouts and four strikeouts.

Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter said RP Luis Ayala (tooth) will have a wisdom tooth removed on the team's next off day. Manager Buck Showalter said Thursday, April 26, that it is not an issue now.

Updating a previous item, the Baltimore Orioles agreed to a one-year deal with RP Luis Ayala Friday, Feb. 10. The contract includes an option for a second year, according to sources. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have tendered a formal offer to free-agent RP Luis Ayala (Yankees), but a source familiar with the negotiations said the pitcher is still weighing his options and a decision is not imminent. It is uncertain if Ayala has been offered a major league deal, or a minor league contract. The Baltimore Orioles, Houston Astros and New York Yankees, and perhaps others, are also believed to be interested in Ayala.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are looking at free-agent RPs Francisco Cordero (Reds), Brad Lidge (Phillies) and Luis Ayala (Yankees). Cordero has offers from the Philadelphia Phillies, Angels, Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays. Lidge is down to the Phillies and Colorado Rockies.

Ayala is expected to choose between the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the Baltimore Orioles. However, neither team has extended him a formal offer.
