According to The Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the Minnesota Twins seem content to open the season with IF Brendan Harris at third base, waiting for Danny Valencia to gain his last bit of polish at Triple-A Rochester. This would likely suggest 3B Joe Crede is finished with the Twins.

The Chicago Tribune's Phil Rogers reports that if the Baltimore Orioles sign free-agent 3B Joe Crede (Twins), the team would have a surplus of third basemen who hit right-handed. IF Garrett Atkins is expected to serve as the team's starting first baseman, but IF Ty Wigginton and DH/OF Luke Scott could be traded away for bullpen help.

According to The Baltimore Sun, prominent baseball agent Scott Boras said he has had continuing discussions with Baltimore Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail throughout the winter about a corner infielder. Boras' clients include 1B Hank Blalock (Rangers) and 3B Joe Crede (Twins). MacPhail has indicated he would prefer to have newly signed Garrett Atkins play first base, so the Orioles are likely more interested in Crede.
