Wed, 16 Jan 2013 10:06:36 -0800

Former NFL WR Tim Brown said he has doubts whether Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman will succeed with his new team. Brown played under Trestman, who once served as offensive coordinator with the Oakland Raiders. Brown wonders whether Trestman has the leadership skills to lead an NFL team. "(There's a lot more to coaching than just Xs and Os," Brown said. "You have to be able to deal with players and that's the reason (former Oakland Raiders head coach) Bill Callahan hasn't succeeded as a head coach. Because he's a smart guy, knows football like the back of his hand, but when it comes to leading (men), it's a totally different intangible you have to have. It's going to be very interesting to see how (Trestman) and Jay Cutler get along, that's for sure."

Bears | Will introduce Marc Trestman Thursday

Wed, 16 Jan 2013 04:08:33 -0800

The Chicago Bears have scheduled a news conference for Thursday, Jan. 17, where they will introduce Marc Trestman as their new head coach.

Fantasy Tip: Trestman may not have NFL head coaching experience; however, his resume is quite impressive. He led the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League to consecutive Grey Cup championships in 2009 and 2010. He also served as the Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator the last time they made an appearance in the Super Bowl during the 2002 season. Trestman is considered to be a quarterback guru, which should bring the best out of Jay Cutler. His offenses in the past have focused on the passing game. He also likes to use his running backs as receivers, which should also suit Matt Forte's talents. Trestman may have been an unconventional hire for the Bears; however, he could revive an underachieving offense.

Bears | Marc Trestman hired?

Fri, 11 Jan 2013 06:16:21 -0800

The Chicago Bears have reportedly hired Montreal Alouettes coach Marc Trestman as their head coach.

Fantasy Tip: There are some suspicions about the validity of this report locally. Trestman was Jimmy Johnson's quarterback coach at the University of Miami. He's known to be a disciple of the West Coast offense. He was the offensive coordinator during Rich Gannon's career 2002 season and also worked with Steve Young. He led the Alouettes to three Grey Cup appearances and two titles. Trestman seems to be a good fit for Jay Cutler, Matt Forte and Brandon Marshall. If the Bears can grab a decent option at receiver opposite of Marshall, they could have an explosive offense in 2013.

Jeff Schudel, of the News Herald, reports Canadian Football League head coach Marc Trestman, who spent part of the offseason helping Florida QB Tim Tebow get the kinks out of his delivery, believes Tebow can succeed at the pro level. "I believe in the right environment Tim Tebow will figure this out. He doesn't have explosive arm strength, but he has more than adequate arm strength to throw the ball in the NFL and make all the throws. I saw him do something totally different in seven or eight days. I can only imagine what he's going to do in one year or two years, because he's going to outwork everybody else and find a way to figure it out."

"I've already emphatically said that the adjustment was made only because of Joel's health situation," Wannstedt said. "Now that it has been made, we're moving forward and concentrating on what we need to do to get ready for this season."
